The privileges for Emirates new top-tier Skywards Platinum level have been revealed, and they include "access for the cardholder and one guest to the Emirates First Class lounge in Dubai".
Emirates reveals perks for new Skywards frequent flyer top tier - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller
On one hand you might think "Great, this will be just like QFF Platinum, even if you're flying in economy an EK Platinum can get into the Emirates first class lounge", and hopefully that's the case.
BUT, and maybe I am being an alarmist, EK hasn't said if this does cover 'any class of travel' such as economy. Maybe a Skywards Platinum will need to be in business class to get into the first class lounge, because to open this right up to every EK Platinum might just be unacceptable.
If so, then Qantas has always talked about their products 'aligning' under the QF-EK partnership.
What if QF uses this as an opportunity to declare that Platinums can only use the Qantas First Class lounge if they are in business or premium economy, but not economy?
The QF First Class lounge is getting more and more crowded these days, and this would certainly fix that!
