Wow, well done. That works out great for you.
However, if the above combination is an indication of how many points are going to be on offer per $ spent (outside any special/bonus offers). Its a sign of some serious devaluation of points spend rates in the near future.
I would have thought it was a sign of how businesses value brand loyalty, so maybe the purchase of points to tap into a highly engaged and loyal clientele is seen by these businesses as a cheap way to boost their bottom dollar. I don't assume qantas selling more points means my points are worth less. I've met people who as P1 don't know how to book award seats and I know plenty who think the only way to book flights is to buy gift vouchers for travel with the points rather than just booking the flights, so I think a bigger threat to the value of our points is educating people on how to get the best value from them not by giving them more points.
They have already reduced earn rates on flights (800 point minimum earn vs 1000 etc) so any additional ways to earn for spending I already do is welcomed by me.
If they are doing this to sell, I'm ok with that. If thats what they need to do to save the airline who am I to protest it. I'd rather an airline I trust that charges me more than one I can easily afford and don't trust… It still gives me more ways to earn that are useful to me, so I guess I am the target audience… and I like it. EpiQure is not for me, I don't drink, Golf might be for me, but Ebay is certainly bringing a smile to my face and as far as gifts go, I buy a lot at DJ's so getting extra rewards above just credit card earn…
I heard this site was about a year in the making, so they took something away at the start of the year and now they are giving something back.
I have 0 engagement with the Virgin Velocity program, but I think this is a good sign not bad.
But then I do love QF and my QFF points so maybe I am biased lol.
