Introducing qantaspoints.com

For me it's a good idea - won't get the benefit that some will but more points never hurt.

I won't make them easier to redeem however! Why it is so hard to find F or J seats on QFI (at reasonable rates, and not 11+ months out, even as a WP) is beyond me - this for me is the worst part of the whole QFFF experience. And will on this topic (and off-topic OP) we should earn SC's on any reward seats.....

Seems like the testing of this site was limited. The QFF toolbar has been shifted onto qantaspoints.com, but it cannot be downloaded, as the download link points to the old web page, that then redirects to the qantaspoints information page. You keep on being invited to download it, but are never able to.

Also, the fact that this has been this way suggests that not too many people are currently attempting to download the toolbar, because QF seemed to have not noticed.

Is it possible to manufacture some points using this latest QFF spin?

For example, could I list an item on Ebay for $15k, have my Mother buy it and reap the points 30k QFF points reward?

The thing is, I need both a toaster and a kettle, so the more QFF points I can generate to help my QFF store purchases the better.

Will they have this cute lil fella for sale like on Skymall I wonder?

You're not in the major league until you can buy a tree climbing resin squirrel with PPE on!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

I hope the site is wildly successful leaving the J & F awards for AFFers :)
Your average QFF member is not going to earn enough points to redeem premium awards.

I'd be happy if we could somehow get value for money economy awards from time to time.

How do you buy off eBay via the Qantaspoints website :what:

How do you buy off eBay via the Qantaspoints website :what:

Just be aware that if you do buy items on ebay that you won't earn points if you use an auction sniper or proxy bidder. I use www.bidnapper.com so would therefore be ineligible for any earn on Qantas Points. The same rules apply if you were to buy ebay items via cash back sites such as www.mrrebates.com or www.ebates.com ie no cash back received.

eBay terms and conditionsCustomers will not be awarded Qantas Points on purchases made on eBay Motors, eBay Real Estate, eBay Charity items, eBay Business & Industrial Capital Equipment, any Coin, Gold or Silver bar purchases, or bids made with a sniping service. Customers will be awarded Qantas Points based on eBay's revenue on all winning Bids. Please ensure that the seller has marked your order as sent once you receive your purchased items.

I thought sniping tools had been banned by Ebay. Just goes to show the last time I used Ebay .

Didn't realise that  I get most of my (somewhat infrequent) purchases from eBay using BayGenie

eBay fees would make them very expensive points.

Hmmm. Forgot about that. Perhaps selling during one of eBay's fee-free sales may be the way to go.

I think you only get points on the ebay fees anyway.

I've only given the website a cursory glance but I think you earn points on purchases.

My limited understanding is that if you use the qantaspoints.com website to purchase items through eBay, you earn QFF points on the value of the purchase.

See the quote ozbeachbabe posted on the previous page:

Ebays revenue will be essentially what is spent anyway, now that they count shipping.

Uhh... no... most of the revenue goes to the seller. Ebay only gets the fees. When you buy something on Ebay you don't pay Ebay, you pay the person you bought it off. They are the ones who pay Ebay.

I think you will find that if you buy something for $100, you will get 200 QFF points ;)

Yes it does if you understand that Ebay base revenue on GMV.

Hmm, well I admit I had to look up what GMV is, but according to wikipedia:

Gross merchandise volume or GMV is a term used in online retailing to indicate a total sales dollar value for merchandise sold through a particular marketplace over a certain time frame. Popular online retail sites like Zalora, MercadoLibre, Kaymu, eBay, Overstock.com, Krrb, and Google Checkout commonly use this term in place of sales or revenue. Site revenue comes from fees and is different from the dollar value of items sold.

(my bolding added)

So you're saying that the term "ebay's revenue" on the qantaspoints.com website definitely refers to GMV and not "site revenue"? What are you basing that assertion on?
