Oh, let me just say one more thing, I think Codash has hit the nail on the head.
Not only flog QFF points, but also, QFF member numbers.
If GA paid $1 for each QFF ping x how million QFF members out there, (even no names or addresses), but numbers, QFF would have gotten several million $.
Like how I keep getting a many AMEX QFF application forms in my PO Box, and how did AMEX get my details, via QFF of course, who AMEX would have paid quite a sum for, ...
Even though my name might not have to AMEX, I am sure AMEX would have paid QFF for my ping at the least.

GA couldn't afford to buy back GolfLink for $5 million so I'm not sure how much capability they would have had to pay Qantas

I suspect that QF will make the money on this one from the golf holiday packages. Presumably good rates on the golf as part of the packages.

Registered my interest. Will more than likely be out of my price range, but am interested to see what's on offer.

Similarly, I have registered and hoping that more information will help to decide whether premium membership is worthwhile.

I play 6-10 times a year with a social golf club and have a "handicap' there, but getting a GA one would assist my desire to enter other corporate events, as usually they require an AGU handicap.

Maybe we'll organise an AFF golf holiday one day...

I think we would all be happier if QF put as much effort into improving their airline as they do in finding ways to flog more FF points to more organisations.
Perhaps it's the chicken and the egg?? If the additional revenue can assist them to stem losses and put more effort into fixing the flying side ;)

If you want an AGU handicap join Tin Can Bay for $84

Just got an email from MiClub stating they will run the tee sheet system for Qantas Golf Club. MiClub are part of the group that bought out GolfLink and currently provide booking systems to a lot of the private (and some public) golf courses

So the email arrived this morning!

$249 for premium membership.

Very disappointed with the courses they've signed up, particularly in NSW. Not a single private course in Sydney that you can't get on through other very simple means.

The AGU handicap is probably worth the cost though for me and some decent courses around provincial areas of NSW. Some great courses in South East Queensland which I guess encourages their holiday travel.

Got the email as well this morning and clicked through - interested in the price, but it must be deep in the application process - so Marketing had a big hand in it. Thought somebody might have commented, so thanks gwynne. I'll pass for the moment.

Just tried to look at the courses for Qld - sitting spinning, so there must be a lot of people online looking :D

Woah, it's buggy (pun intended)!

First search of course in Qld came up with 2 results - both in the backblocks of SA
Second search came back with 7 results - this time backblocks of Perth
Third attempt finally got 24 to come in - in Qld this time. Only 24  Searched through them and not many that take my interest

FAIL in my opinion.

Only worth signing up for the free membership. so I can enter the prize draw and then we can set up the first AFF QFF Golf Members Weekend.

Love the Tasmania golf package picture - Barnbougle. Now that's a course I'd like to play

If you already have a club membership, I can see almost no value in the premium membership. Disgraceful product offering, I think I'll be one of the few to sign up though as I'm in the first year of a 10-year waiting list at NSW and not really playing enough at the moment to justify going anywhere else.

I do have to say RR that I am a member of a club and i don't see much benefit to be a Premuim. The price to play each course is same as a walk up in many instances . I think you could have added much more to make it worth while
Heres an example
Hope island QLD from the QGC website green fees are $140. The std published rate on hope island website is $140. I dont need to be a premuim member at all.
Things like this are just poor planning , looks bad
