International style dining BNE to PER

Although the food and its quality helps, QF should spend more time and money fixing the bloody seats. Nice food in BAD seat = still BAD.....!!!!

Sorry for any confusion. I'm happy to confirm that the new menu is available for SYD-PER-SYD, MEL-PER-MEL, BNE-PER-BNE, ADL-PER-ADL, DRW-PER-DRW and CBR-PER-CBR.

I've offered my assistance for any future media release draft reviews. ;)

But why isn't it available if you originate in PER? ie do I get it if I go PER-SYD-PER for example? Is this another example of QF abandoning Perth-ites?

(Waits ........ )

OK, I better add the :D:D:D ..... just in case.

Are you sure you want to help in writing pressers, Red Roo?

I can confirm its available Per-BNE now. I had a wonderful meal last night. The menu was excellent and my main choice, mandarin and ginger braised beef cheeks with jasmine rice and gai-lan was one of the best dishes I've had on a plane in any class. Glancing round the cabin, there were a lot of empty plates indicating happy pax. Qantas deserves a complement for upping the game so comprehensively.

One little quirk however. I asked the CSM how the service was from a staff perspective. He mentioned that they had to tweak the order of service from the first day. He changed to bringing the drinks trolley out before hot towels as on the first night it took 45 mins for first drinks to be served after the towel service. I also prefer the drinks trolley to the old service that had the staff ask you your choice of first drink and then head back to the galley to pour it.

Can also confirm it is available in PER-SYD. Had the breakfast menu this morning in J on international config 332.

Was VERY impressed with the food quality, presentation and variety. The staff seemed genuinely pleased to be offering it.

Breakfast was much better than VA. If this is the standard it looks like it is game on against VA Coast to Coast.

Per-Mel today.

Fantastic service. Great improvement.

+1 for fixing the Asian 'cafe' breakfast though. Red Roo can you pass on? It's too small. Luckily the FA's always give me double serves ;)

Well this is certainly good news.

It is not often I fly J but I might have to try this one day soon...

I am really looking forward to this now on Wednesday Brisbane to Perth and then on Friday Perth to Melbourne :D

I had the pleasure of new lunch on Perth to Melbourne today. Ill tag into this one rather than starting a new thread.

Excuse the short comments, it was written in flight on my phone. :)

Menus were on the armrest on boarding.

Orders taken. Not much said about how it works even when asked. the FA said we could choose whatever but most treat it as entree and main.

Drinks service off a mini trolley. Better than the old back and forward for drinks orders.

Separate to the menu list two services of a small tart served off a tray with napkin before main meal service.

The Asian meats were excellent with a bit of salad that had a nice bite.
The prawns were good but the salad was a little bland.

The side salad was all lettuce. A little tomato would have been nice. The bread was room temperature but nice and fresh. The butter was spreadable! :)

Initial table setup and 'small plate' were done out of a trolley. 'Large plate' was delivered individually.

The pizza was fairly bland. Nothing exciting to report. It was a little dry and tough to cut on one side but much better in the middle.

The beef was quite salty and that was the primary taste we noticed. It fell apart easily and was edible.

Bread and alcohol flowed as they should. :)

The service seemed quicker than the old way. Small and large plates were finished about 90mins after departure.

Flew MEL-PER last night on the intl. config 332 and the flight attendant I spoke to (while I was lamenting not upgrading and trying out the Skybeds!) mentioned this new menu had rolled out across the board. She seemed very impressed by it - looking forward to giving it a go when we fly MEL-PER in J this coming July.

Looks quite yummy :)

The starters were great, the dessert was great. The little extra bits like the mini carrot cake and tart were great as was the service. We weren't fans of either of the mains or the cheese plate. The cheese plate used to have some variety but not on my flight. I also miss the ice cream (except when it was burnt fig).

Had the new J breakfast on PER-BNE yesterday and it was definitely an improvement over the previous offering. Will be interested to try the new J dinner menu on the way back.

Was in J on QF772 Per to Mel today as well. Very impressive meal service for what is basically a near 3 hour domestic flight. The Asian cold meats were awesome. I had the Salmon for the main which was pretty tasty too.

People will be happy to know the butter was soft too but there's no ice cream - blasphemy.

Wow really impressed with the food QF is dishing out (/pun) in J.

Stepping up to VA's offering. Look forward to next time I sit in QF Dom J.

This "Small Plate" thing is new for 2013. It is confusing to passengers (and possibly crew alike).

These "Small Plates" on international flights are supposed to be available at most times during the flight (thanks eoinnz) - replacing the 'in flight' snacks.

So they look like an entree and can be had as such, but they should be avalable later in the flight as well (otherwise it would not be an "international" type service?).
