I never said Lincoln/Kennedy theory was true but there are some similiarities which I think cannot be explained away as coincidence.

They were both elected to congress 100 years apart, they both became presidents 100 years apart. Coincidence! Possibly. They were both assassinated. Coincidence. They were both shot on Friday. Coincidence. So we are told by the best time to assassinate a president is Friday, Saturday & Sunday. They were succeeded as president by a Johnson. Coincidence. Johnson is a common name but only 2 have become US presidents.

The human mind is built for finding patterns and jumping to conclusions.

Take the people who see weird circles in their wheat field. Suddenly they've been created by aliens (Human's couldn't possibly have created them!).

For every similarity between 2 people, there are many thousands of non-similarities that are ignored.

Choose a big enough set of data to use and you can find similarities.

I bet if we sat down and discussed things for a few hours we would find out something identical like parents born in same town or you know someone I do, you caught the same flight as me once or you once was in the same location as me or something.

Spend long enough looking at the data and you will find quite a few similarities. Coincidence, no. Good data matching (and some poetic license) yes!

What prompted me to ask this question was my daughter, who is fourth class, came to me with her fractions homework/worksheet and asked me to assist her with this question. So I said to her I believe the answer is false because if half empty glass is the same as half full , then
1/2 empty = 1/2 full and that means empty = full. That's impossible, therefore the answer is false, but I think your teacher is expecting a true response. My mathematical explanation didn't go down well with her teacher, my daughter said the explantion confused her so much that she ran to check the answer in the back of the text book, came back and said your wrong, the answer is true! I'm not a mathematician, but I can't see anything wrong with my explanation, can you?

Even mathematically you seem to be correct; if you double both sides of the equation you get:

2 * ½ Empty = 2 * ½ Full

=> ²/2 Empty = ²/2 Full

=> 1 * Empty = 1 * Full

=> Empty = Full

Which is clearly false; while Empty ¬= Full is true!

Maybe her teacher should be teaching philosophy....
