Hyatt offering status matches via Twitter

The response from following up with them about a HH diamond only being offered platinum. A nice copy and pasted response, which a) we all know isn't entirely correct and b) glad they appreciate loyalty where there has been none so far.

Dear MrsDaver6

I am writing to you concerning your recent messages regarding your tier status with Hyatt Gold Passport.
I greatly appreciate your inquiry regarding your tier status with Hyatt Gold Passport. Hyatt Gold Passport always maintains the integrity of our top tier. We are only offering Diamond Status to SPG Platinum Members with a minimum of 20 nights in the last 12 months. We are offering Platinum status to SPG Gold and matching Hilton, Marriott and IHG.
I do greatly appreciate your loyalty with us as you do have many options when you travel. If there is anything else that I may do to help ensure that we remain your brand of choice, please let me know.

Which is why I will be staying 20+ nights with Hilton next year. I am not completely loyal to Hilton, and have stayed at Hyatts before, but will no longer continue to do so - will pick other chains when Hilton doesn't suit. I think Hyatt have not handled this at all well

I agree tania73 a very poor response and I'm in exactly the same position as you.

The cut and paste emails have been pretty awful.

I sent my request off last week and today heard that my HHD has been matched to Hyatt Platinum. I have replied to them saying that it appears that allows no access to the club or upgrade to a club room. So I have asked them to reconsider as I currently get lounge/club access at HH.

As with others, I don't expect any change to their offer.

I sent them a rather curt return email reminding them of the significant difference betwen Hyatt Plat and Hilton Diamond and how they were not remotely similar. I actually need to book accom in PER and I'm waiting to see if the match to Diamond comes through - if so I will book Hyatt, if not Ill book Hilton (and I told the status match team this).

Their response:

I am sorry to hear of your frustration and disappointment with your recent Tier Match. I certainly understand and appreciate the feedback that you provided, and I have ensured your comments are documented.
As part of a limited time special offer, we are currently matching elite status with peer programs to Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status. At this time, the only way to achieve the Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond tier is to complete the normal earning criteria or to submit Starwood Preferred Guest information showing Platinum status, as well as 20 nights with SPG in the last 12 months.
Hyatt Gold Passport does run promotions periodically that may include expedited earning for elite status. While we are not currently running a specific promotion at this time please check back with us in the future, as our promotions do change.

I wasn't going to apply on behalf of my dad, as when I read the offer initially it said you had to stay at least one night at Hyatt this year, and he hasn't. However he is Starwood Platinum with 31 nights this year (got through on stays) so perhaps I should? He's already got Hilton Diamond now through the other offer.

Actually, you needed to have one night in the program you were matching from, not the Hyatt program.

Re: Hyatt Status Match

Just matched to platinum from IHG platinum. Probably fair; unlikely to use it anyway.

I got a response which was a cut and paste and completely ignored what I said in my follow up email.

Re: Hyatt Status Match

Interesting that they matched my Hilton gold to platinum...if I was diamond if be feeling pretty unwanted.

Saying that Hyatt platinum isn't anything special!

Re: Hyatt Status Match

Got matched to diamond last week from SPG plat. To those being matched at plat from Hilton diamond, try sending in additional proof - such as your status level on another program. Your two combined statuses are more than Hyatt diamond. You can also try making a booking now as a gesture of goodwill. All Hyatt want to know is there will be some ROI when betting on you.

Re: Hyatt Status Match

I got a response this morning stating that the only match to Diamond is with SPG plat. Oh well.

Re: Hyatt Status Match

Having stayed at Hyatt, SPG and Hilton properties ... it's not much of a surprise they limited the offer to SPG.

The reason it's limited to SPG is nothing to do with the quality (or lack of) in Hilton properties. It's due to the buyout of SPG by Marriott.

I had a booking at Hyatt Melbourne in the system (now cancelled), sent proof of Hilton Diamond and IHG Spire RA memberships and didn't have any luck.
I also mentioned that it would be difficult to give up my benefits in both of those hotel chains to try out Hyatt as a Platinum, and that I would prefer not to accept their offer of a status match.

My reply from SPG was also the same as yours.

Oh, well their loss.
