My first time here and very impressed. Got pre arrival WhatsApp and e-mail from guest services welcoming me as Diamond (a first for me!) and asking what can be done etc. Re-iterated my room preferences which I found honoured on check-in. Check-in took a while, but it was a trainee. Got a bit of paper with lounge and bar info, which was good. Check out also took some time with the same trainee, but no problem.
The room very good, everything worked. Only issue was that it was north-facing and was very hot on late afternoon arrival on a sunny winters day. I asked for sheet to be sent up (to sub for doona) and this arrived promptly. The aircon didn't get things properly cool when I went to bed after 10, so the sheet came in handy. Curtains a good black-out standard.
There was a noisy 'alley-pub' seemingly right below my north-east corner (room 2011), but I was high enough for it not to be audible unless you listened hard. But lower down it it might be a problem. Floor plan below.
Was there for a Sat night, and went to the lounge around 5pm; it was uncrowded and the service was excellent. Had a number of drinks with several other AFFers staying and group drinks were proactively enquired about, and delivered. Didn't look too closely at the food range, but it seemed OK for lounge fare, not dinner substitute. Probably the best Sofitel lounge experience I've had in a while.
Very happy with the stay and will be back in late October for the AFF do.
