Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Yes, this disappoints me too. I'm going there in a week, am going to try and wangle breaky down in the main restaurant I think.

When HSW first opened, I didn't encounter any problems with taking the complimentary breakfast, for Diamond, in the restaurant, instead of the Executive Lounge. In fact, it seemed optional as to where you had breakfast.

However, one stay I discovered that the charge for the restaurant breakfast had been added to the bill. I managed to have it removed, but was informed that the Diamond benefit breakfast must now be taken in the EL in future.

Must have been a rush of AFFers at Hilton on the Park last week as I had my first stay there as well. Got upgraded from King Guest Room to Executive King, free bottle of water and letter from GM. Had a great check in and a very warm welcome from staff in Executive Lounge... Good impression of hotel ruined however after a 90 minute wait for room service (had been advised it would take 20 minutes). Further ruined when the delivery staff tried to tell me I had only been waiting for 20 minutes. Hole became even deeper after receiving a phone call from someone else who tried to tell me that I had only ordered 20 minutes ago.... I'm heading back to Hilton SW!

That is a real shame. I stay at HOTP because I have been able to find some great rates - not so much in 2012 :( HSW is lovely and has the occasional great rate but I have to add about $15 to the cab ride cost whereas HOTP is $10 cheaper than our approved hotels.

My last 2 stays (1 month ago and this week) at Hilton Adelaide I got upgraded to Executive King and access to their lounges. They let me stayed at the Executive King room on my last night being on Point + Pay award. My last 2 nights my wife and I actually got free buffet breakfast downstairs as they closed their lounge in the morning due to getting close to Xmas period.

I have to say Hilton Adelaide is a little gem given it is only a Cat 4 hotel. Point + Pay is only 15K + $47.

Currently staying at Hilton Brisbane and have to say that like Qantas the only thing consistent about the place is the inconsistency.

I did ask them a few questions tonight and the major one they could not answer. Why are the wardrobe doors missing?

What else can I say?

They nearly lost me three weeks ago when I was here but this just tops it off. No water (until I asked) no wine (they gave that last time for no apparent reason) and no welcome note.

The only consolation was I'm on a higher floor than bossreggie :!: :D (We even had to have some serious discussions with them to get him a suite)

You didn't tell me about the wardrobe door last night...imagine if that had been bossreggie's room

Inconsistency doesn't bode well across a program. I hope it was a better breakfast in the Exec Lounge than drinks last night. The Lounge Manager certainly got obsequious after bossreggie spoke to him

I'll have to look that up also.

My account was wrong again. No HPC discount applied and a note saying I am not a HHonors member & inviting me to apply :!:

In this situation I would:

1. Make sure my HHonors number was printed on the folio, &
2. Make sure I keep a printed copy of the check-out folio until the points/miles credit.

The Hilton Brisbane was one of the most consistent Hiltonswhen hhonors was my program. But management changes and standards can go out the window. This is consistent across all programs.Four Points Sydney has gone this way in the SPG program.
So when you find a good GM-follow him/her when he/she goes.

I had the previous persons welcome card and beer bottles in the trash can, and a generic Dear Guest card on the table.

They did give me a late checkout today though which is helpful :)

Adelaide Hilton
HH Gold ("real" not via VA)
Room Booked: Queen Guest Room
Rate: $149
Room Received: King Executive

I still like the Hilton Adelaide and haven't had any bad experiences like the one reported here. I have never as a HH Gold not received an upgrade to exec room and lounge. But I have noticed that the standard of amenity has certainly dropped over the past year. I used to but no longer receive one or all of: personal greeting from the duty manager, welcome card signed by GM, choccies, wine and one one memorable occasion a decanter of single malt. Now it is just the room upgrade and 2 bottles of water. On this occasion I also noticed there was no "welcome back to the Hilton" at check in, either.

Hilton Sydney
HH Diamond
Room booked: King Guest Room
Rate:$164
Room received: King Executive

Welcome card signed by the GM, chocolate covered macadamias, an apple and a bottle of water were in my room. Was given the option of having breakfast in Glass Brasserie instead of the lounge which is great as I like to eat (relatively) healthy when traveling.

The water and apple have been replenished.

MEL Hilton on the Park
HH Diamond (via Virgin)
Booked King Bed.
Upgraded to King Executive floor.

Received free internet and breakfast. Voucher for drink due to lounge being closed for renovation. I had been advised of this by email well before I arrived. No problems.

The place was busy with the cricket across the road. Breakfast lounge was full but I got a table immediately and the staff did an excellent job of looking after guests.

Used quick checkout and the receipt was emailed within the hour.

the new Surfer's hilton is great!! booked 3 rooms for 1 night( had a meeting and had 2 non HHonors mates comingto same meeting) V8 races were on but got an excellent rate. Check in was very slick and from someone who'd never worked in a Hilton before. Each room had a welcome bucket of beer (on ice) and all 3 had lounge access - great staff, lovely service. Check out was at front desk as lounge wasn't able to until next week but the morning staff were again Hilton novices but again excellent... also i forgot cufflinks and the 'boys' were able to find some for me... happily go back again and again.:D:D

My brother is happy with HH benefits here at Surfers.
Im less impressed by the mountains of dirty linen on the floor of the lobby on my floor (residences) and the fact that only one of four lifts seems to be working at each time. The staff are a notch up from my usual experiences in Australia though.
