I booked Mrs F into the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne last week for a stay last night.
We had origiannly made a phone booking as the res system was down & we needed to lock it in.
The room booked was a twin, as that was all that was available, but I specifically asked the inhouse reservations lady to add a note asking, and I quote myself "if possible, if a king room becomes available could we please have that?"
The lady was quite brusque with me and said "You have booked a twin room and that's all that is available"
I figured she was busy with things so no big deal.

My wife is a Diamond and officially has 2 stays this year at HOP, but as she normally books with Egencia, she has actually stayed a total of 5 times now.

I logged onto her reservation yesterday to see if they had managed to find her a king room, but nothing had changed on the booking.
I did see under the comments section "Comments on file".
Fair enough, at least they were noted.
She needed another booking made in Sydney, so I jumped back a few pages to the reservation pages, made her booking as per normal, then noticed in the comments column -
"TWIN ROOM:Unzip King Beds:EF Floor Privileges:DO NOT MOVE!"

This was a bit weird as I had just booked a king room at the Sydney Hilton....
I then went back to existing HOP reservation and sure enough, under the comments section was that same line....
That was a little galling to me, so I rang the HOP and spoke to the lovely front desk manager, who when I explained what I saw on my wifes booking, tapped at her keyboard for a second and said "um, you normally wouldn't see those comments."
No, I guess I wasn't supposed to.

She apologised and said she would fix it.
Mrs F checked in about 2pm and was given a suite....

I would be making a call to HHonors and possibly the GM of the hotel.

As a Diamond at HOP I have had an upgrade to a suite 4/4 most recent stays.

That has been a feature of this year's revised HHonors web site.

I have refrained from mentioning it publicly ... ;)

Interesting.....

Checks current bookings.....

Promising comments in my HSW booking.......
Strange comments in my Gold Coast booking......

that is bad! Definitely follow this up with Gm and HHonors, totally unacceptable

That's just incredible. I hope you have a screen shot! I'd be trading that with the hotel management for something...

Can these comments be edited? *nudge* *nudge* ;) ;)

I'm confused! Where am I supposed to be looking?

Go to make a new booking and they are there just after you select the room type

It's where YOU would type comments in, and you can, but it seems to carry across comments from previous bookings/hotels.

As I said, I have no idea where my "requests" have come from, I have never specified the newspaper that is listed

Hmmmm. Mine shows the comment (about expected arrival time) from a booking I made at a US hotel. That booking was about the fourth or fifth last booking I made on the Hilton website. And it seems to automatically show up no matter which property I go to book. I can't see any secret internal comments (eg. 'pushy Hilton Macquarie member, assign cough room') anywhere.

That's likely because you haven't had any "secret internal comments" applied to your booking by the hotels as yet (if such is going to happen at all).
