Confirming that I'll have two for dinner.

Where & when?
Great news, the suggestion was for a bit of a pub meal to end the day, so in that case Jack Greene bar is hot to trot, with craft beer and Gourmet burgers. Jack Greene
If everyone would prefer a bit of class and wine instead then Frogmore Creek City Lounge is amazing, but will cost a bit more. The Lounge By Frogmore Creek | Restaurant Hobart Waterfront
We can book 6 or 6.30 easy at this stage. But i will have to confirm shortly.
What do you think guys?
@Doug_Westcott
@Bundy Bear
@RooFlyer I think you are not staying for dinner?

I would opt for later rather than earlier as we only arrive in Hobart at 1655.

The bus drive must be punctual... (I'm assuming this is Saturday night after the tour?)

Either option is ok by me

We are due to be dropped at Society for Gin Tasting etc at 4.30pm so depends if people what to keep going or go back to accommodation and refresh. For me i will just hang, and Later for dinner to allow a moderator to attend sounds great to me.

The forecast is good drinking weather, but may pay to bring warm and possibly waterproof/wind resistant coats. We have had severe winds yesterday and today, and expected to reduce tomorrow. The mountain should be pretty and photogenic, especially Sunday morning. @straitman is mrs Straitman coming to dinner? I may be able to convince my wife to come out for dinner if there is another lady present, she is not keen to spend the day with a bunch of gentlemen drinking.

I would go with the more expensive dinner option, that is only my suggestion so if cheap is better then pub meal is ok.
I can get a pub meal almost anywhere.
I will be packing my winter gear, weather looks frightening

Frogmore is certainly memorable, picture is a desert, apple crumble and whiskey liqueur. If others ok I will try to book tomorrow. I have a temporary booking at Jack Greene, but not fully confirmed.

I'm with Bundy Bear that a little up market is good.

I do have to request that you check they do Gluten Free though. Very important on this occasion as my partner in crime for the evening is a Celiac. Also and in order to stop any gossip and potential embarrassment, Mrs straitman is not coming but a family friend from Hobart of 45+ years will be with me.

Just a little background and not for discussion on the night please is that her late husband and I did RAAF pilots course together and he flew Iroquois and Chinook choppers. He was a flying operations inspector with CASA when he was killed in a helicopter crash at Caboolture in 2003. Prior to that he was awarded a bravery medal for a courageous rescue off Townsville in 1997.

Not to worry, my wife is FodMap so even more severe than celiac. Gluten free is certainly available. Menu below.

Booking has been made for 6 people 6.30pm at The Lounge by Frogmore Creek. It was this or 8.00pm and that seemed a hard ask after a day out tasting. I will attempt to add one if my wife changes her mind, 50/50 chance considering the allure of Frogmore vs Teacher fatigue after a fortnight of unpaid overtime that rivals my own. Sure we can not twist your arm Rooflyer? I could even probably round up a bed at our place.

Isn't there some saying along the lines of "What happens in Hobart, stays in Hobart?"

Or did I just make that up

[All in jest]

I must say Frogmore Creek got my attention!! Staying over in Hobart that might will allow me a bit more Latitude on the trading side. Many thanks for the bed offer, but I have family i town :) I'll have to let you know later, but if they can't expand the booking, then no problem.

Hi Everybody,

Sorry I've off offline for (quite) a while, so I've totally missed this thread. I'll be flying back in Hobart on Friday, so I'm available to join in the festivities if there are any places still available. Thanks Steady for the heads up. :)
Cheers,
DB

Fantastic.
