A thread bump as there are still 2 spaces available on the tour and more for dinner - just wanting to prompt any Tassie AFFers who may not be aware this is on and would like to come on the tour or maybe just join us for dinner (and meet a Mod.... :) )

(some of you may not actually be from Tas, but dont let that stop you from coming along anyway...) @Lowjhg @terry88 @Simo @lastrow @Coops1 @ramboflyer @Kolo @Whining&dining @gethsemene @ferntree @Pliny @nutwood @BCons @peabertpickles @Stealthflyer @mavis @danintas

Thanks everyone, I presented and hosted the last Dry Eye Workshop tonight in a series of them. Will be the last face to face education in the next 3-4 months as restrictions begin on gatherings and education with COVID-19. So things will be fluid and possibly beyond anyone’s control. If anyone becomes symptomatic then please inform me. I have directives in place in case of any exposure that I have to adhere too. Happy to proceed as planned. Should be fine as long as none of us become symptomatic. Am off to Brisbane early tomorrow and back early Monday. Will work on afternoon itinerary and post soon now I have a small amount of spare time.

Yes, I'm still in.

However, I have been in isolation this week with a very mild head cold. I'm assured it is highly unlikely to be CODIV-19 related. I am now 100% symptom free so I think I'm safe to proceed. If anyone is concerned, or if my symptoms re-emerge, I'm happy to withdraw from the festivities.

I’m still planning on coming...

Tassie has a very low level of contagion (two from overseas I understand)
As is the case in Adelaide (again people returning from overseas)
Melb I’m not sure but taking the Overland across as its expected to finish on 31 March....and two days there

Domestic Airport interactions are not yet on the no go list but

I suppose going to Tassie we could claim it to be

“essential overseas travel”

As far as I know 5 cases in Tasmania, 2 Launceston, 3 Hobart, all overseas travel caught, in isolation in Hospitals. No community transmission yet. Only 1 local transmission case in all Australia.

We are in Noumea at the moment on Carnival Splendor and no one would know there is/was an issue.
I’ll be back in Sydney on Thursday and heading to Hobart as planned that afternoon

Officials just announced 14 day quarantine (by self isolation) for all new arrivals from midnight tonight into Australia...
All cruise ships from OS banned for 30 days

Hope you managed to make alternative arrangements o_O

@straitman . The news today of mandatory 14 day isolation quarantine for all overseas arrivals and no docking for any cruise boats means you will be unable to attend it seems. I attended a professional meeting with updates on how we will handle COVID-19 today. It was a seriously scary meeting and the information coming from the government is not honest or true. The curve of cases we are on matches Italy’s curve and we are expected to double cases in 6 days and reach Italy’s level in 6 weeks. Unless we get serious about social distancing. I will think more on what data and instruction was presented today. But we may have no choice but to cancel. I do not arrive home till Monday lunch and wish to have a face to face meeting with my wife before I make any further announcement wrt the trip. There is even credible talk of Tasmania imposing a stricter entry and mandatory isolation for all people entering the state. So it may be out of my hands.

MrsK and I have everything booked, so we'll be down come what may for a break. As you say, let's see how it goes - it is a bit 'day by day' at the moment, and hopefully it won't get worse. On a lighter note, it would be interesting to see the Tassie Govt trying to block people arriving on the Spirit of Tasmania at Devonport (although I would never call it a Cruise), much less those arriving on flights. And then, what if they stop the world famous @RooFlyer returning from his round-the-world soujourn!

Oh dear

Well I have til 7.15am to decide or Wednesday 7.45pm....

The first is about departing Adelaide
The second is about departing Melbourne for Hobart or in effect changing and flying back to Adelaide ....

From the sounds of it, I’d rate the tour continuation as on the unlikely side of the ledger .....

Shene Distillery is closed until further notice, so no distillery tour now. Expect the other distillery tour I had arranged to also be cancelled. With this in mind I think we need to make a decision to cancel the HOBART Wine, Food and Gin tasting trip. This is not what I planned or wanted we started this journey. I am deeply sorry that it has come to this. I will happily arrange to return the advanced monies paid.
I will be unable to cancel my hire bus booking I think. but will try. In the circumstances I expect restaurants will also start to make changes. So as to the dinner I will contact Frogmore lounge and get back to you when I know more, but probably best to not gather in groups for the next few months. This is the start of a brave new world for the next few months.
