Thanks for your efforts. Unless further travel restrictions are enforced I will still be coming down to Hobart for the weekend, but every thing is flexible. Happy to to contribute to the cost of bus or anything that cannot be cancelled.

Be safe!

Yes, like Doug, worry about refunding later after any costs are taken care of. We’re all in this together.

The Overland left this morning without me...... SA had declared state of emergency immediately following the PMs address yesterday.

I don’t now expect to head to Hobart either.

Mrs K and I are still intending to come down, we're booked to fly down on Thursday now. Although will have to wait to see what tomorrow brings

FYI

Thanks @CaptJCool , this is the first step I heard about late last week. Second step will be either stopping any entries into the state, or 14 day mandatory self isolation for all entrants into the state, including domestic, international and returning locals.

And since I had planned on staying until 27th March....

It’s water under the bridge
So far I’ve burnt $260 in non-refundable cancellations for the Melbourne leg. (And my friend who was Overlanding with me a similar amount)

Fortunately, Hobart accommodation, that which I’d booked was refundable and flight credits (off GIFT Vouchers from Feb 2019) are back in credit.

I’m still happy to forego my share of any cancellation fees you incur from the tour.

Hopefully, you can advise us all soon of that damage?

Still can get no reply from Europcar who i booked the van with, from memory it was about 215 so i made the cost component 25 for each to cover myself ao worst case may be 20-25 a head.

Finally got through to them, cancelled and no charges at this stage for cancellation. SO i can arrange to transfer everyones $75 back in full. Good news at last. Perhaps each person can send a personal message with bsb acct details to save everyone posting their details here.

Hi everyone. Just got online for the first time since Saturday and a lot has happened. Our ship is now due in Sydney in about 3 hrs which is 36 hrs early. We are heading to a hotel for the night then home tomorrow.
We are required to self isolate until the 28th as that is 14 days from when we were in Noumea. Sorry the Hobart Gathering is now impossible but happy that most are getting sorted without too much of a financial loss.
Travel safe everyone.

Good news, very lucky that they will let you off the ship I think.

I am terribly disappointed to cancel but I know it is the right thing to do. I can only imagine the devastating impact this will have on these businesses.

@Tassieoptom, thank you for all your hard work in organising all of this (and now un-organising it).

Uncharted territory.

@alief thank you for the kind words, are you based in Tasmania, or were you also traveling down to the apple Isle? So problematic to all, but with Shene closing, Mona closing, tour members in mandatory quarantine it was a disaster. Not to mention i was being advised to take care not to attend or participate in any gathering large or small. Being a primary care giver i have responsibilities to my staff and patients too, and professional advice is never taken lightly, nor should it.

Hi All - Unfortunately we have had to cancel as well, which is a great disappoint to us both.
@Tassieoptom - thanks for all of your work in putting this together, and I'm sorry we won't be down to enjoy the cheer of Tassie wines and gin. Don't worry about refunds, just buy some wines and gin and do a 'at home' version of what we would have done on the bus, and report back to us. Maybe the others can do the same and have a virtual tour, which I think some of the reprobates on one of the wine thread were planning to do

Keep safe all and see you soon - come to Canberra in Dec and we can reciprocate with our wineries, distilleries and breweries here

Had an emergency consultation yesterday, Grey Nomads from Qld, planned on heading home in 2 weeks but thinking Tassie may be safer so are going to stay here.
My receptionist has her parents trekking south, lightning ridge last night, but may have trouble getting a booking on the spirit.
Spoke to Frogmore Creek to cancel and they said that our size booking would not have been accommodated with the new rules and would have had to break us up in to smaller tables in different corners. Also commented that all upcoming weddings they host have been cancelled with brides/grooms and family not able to get here to avoid the quarantine.
