HKG lounge crawl 12 June 2016

Would love to make it to one of these events some day and the stars almost aligned for this one, will pass through HKG on the 13th for a few hours. :(

We would look to get in to HKG same time. We will more than likely be flying in on SQ SIN-HKG. Perhaps on A380.

It might be teaching you to suck eggs, but make sure your flight out of HKG is with QF* or another OW carrier.

*QF is preferred as that will allow access to the EK lounge as well.

All good, am tossing up between the 23:05 BA flight to LHR or one of the other Oneworld flights in the early hours of the 13th. Are there any QF flights going anywhere but back to Oz?

For anyone looking, the companion J fare on AY seems to work for the lounge meet - BKK-HKG-HEL-LHR-HEL-BKK for example.
 
For any Qld'ers# thinking they will have Monday 13th June public holiday to recover, note that this is *not* a public holiday in QLD in 2016. Labour Day has gone back to May, and Queen's birthday is now October.

(# or people that work in QLD.)

Past experience suggests that most of us would be departing around 8-9pm, so please don't feel that you need to stay till midnight if it's inconvenient. Although if you're Europe bound, then you will most likely be staying around till midnight.

And SIN is looking an increasingly popular place for 11 June 2016... :shock:

I'll be flying in on SQ SIN-HKG on the A380 too. On the 8th though.

Probably an intern playing with the yield management. I can book SIN-HKG return in SQ Y for around $300 SGD.

Trying to book a flexible one-way BKK-SIN-HKG for 2 people to arrive SIN say early Saturday morning and depart for HKG early Sunday morning. Struggling to get the desired flights.
 
There's some developing news that has put some doubt in the planning.

Don't want to miss this event. Hope I can still make it.
 
Unfortunately, my travel dates are out by months for this event. I thought that this question was best asked in the thread as I need some advice about lounges at HKG. JessicaTam may be a great source of info for me.

As my husband has earned enough points, he and I are both flying CX from HKG -> PER in J in March. The flight leaves HKG at 14:55. We will come across from Shenzhen in the morning, going via my jeweller in TST. So we should arrive at the airport around noon.

I have usually chosen The Pier, Business, but I gather it is currently closed for renovation.

So that leaves The Bridge, The Cabin or The Wing from my research. I don’t eat meat and like soy decaf coffee; my husband is normal. Neither of us drink alcohol. We enjoy a good view of planes taking off and landing.

Which of these lounges would be best for us?

The wing is not that great for plane spotting - apart from a few gates.

I would suggest the Bridge - I have had a good coffee from there in the past.

You should have enough time to give each a quick sample before settling on the lounge you like.

The Bridge is definitely the closest to the Pier in terms of the view available. At the cabin, you get up close and personal to a few of the gates as well, and I think they still squeeze fruit juices for pax on demand. The Wing has a barrister in one of the sections as well so you can order coffee as you like it, although I'm not sure if they have soy decaf available (not my personal preference of coffee). G16 is also available for your use, and so is the QF lounge. The former isn't really worth going to, but the latter is deserted at lunch time so that's where I would go if I need a quiet spot.
