HKG lounge crawl 12 June 2016

Thanks to JT and everyone for making the lounge run super fun. Sorry I had to detour after the Pier as I had to accompany a relative but it was still great catching up. I rushed to the QF lounge for a last drink before QF128 boarded but couldn't see anyone there.
JT and I were talking about next year's venue when you lot were drinking the Wing dry but my lips are sealed

Well, certainly a few more lounges than the (North) Korean offering.

It can only be either NRT or HND though. Flight options out of HND are somewhat limiting as well. There're AA/BA/CX/KA/JL/QF but they're all first-tier airlines in OW and prices generally reflect that.

Airfares ex-BKK to NRT are horrendous. It can be cheaper to fly to NRT from SYD/BNE.

Likewise. Another vote of thanks to JessicaTam for organising the fourth annual Asian lounge crawl.

Friday's QF29 party flight with Fifa, mickeyc747, samiam and JessicaTam was a fun-filled start to a memorable weekend.

It was great to catch up with so many AFFers on Sunday, both old and new friends. Thank you all for the great conversation and company.

Looking forward to the fifth annual Asian lounge crawl on 11 June 2017.

Airfares ex-BKK to NRT are horrendous. It can be cheaper to fly to NRT from SYD/BNE.

MH sometimes have cheap J fares ex-SIN or Thailand to various Asian destinations. A couple of years ago, SIN-xKUL-NRT was around $1100, while this year was about $1400. Not sure what would happen next year with the rather odd 1-2-1, 1-2-2 new J seats.

Sounds like a fun time. Just did a lounge crawl in Mexico City. Both of them..AA and IBERIAN. Iberian far better - staff very attentive..8 staff and only 3 of us in the lounge. AA small bar area and some food and a couple of noisy kids.

1. Is this an annual event? If so - 2017 dates?
2. Would organising committee ever contemplate welcoming AFErs of SQ orientation into the fold?

Annual. Same holiday weekend each year. 2017 dates are above, but location Is still being decided afaik (Japan has been mentioned, but unsure of current planning).

Usually there will be enough OWE members to provide guesting, but of course you'll need a same day OW flight boarding pass to participate.

Thanks Mal - I see 2017 is June 11 - that might work as we don't fly to Europe until June 20 - let's see how things pan out. OW BP shouldn't be a prob.

So 2017 shindig is June 11 - what actually happens? Do people arrive am on 11th - get plastered and dep again on 11th? Stay overnight? It's like a 3 day lounge crawl?

There are people in both camps. e.g. this year, quite a few stayed at least 1 night in HKG or somewhere close by in Asia before the day of the crawl. Although as I'm based in SIN, I just flew in for the day (and flew back home afterwards).

I am a gambling man and my money is on NRT. A bit too far for me to go as not planning to be in Thailand at the time.
