Double Points Throughout Asia, Australasia and Guam

Between 16 November 2007 and 31 January 2008, stay at select Hilton hotels in Asia, Australasia or Guam and earn double Hilton HHonors® Base points. Plus, you'll enjoy a complimentary daily Hilton Breakfast. Bask in electric Tokyo's neon lights and excitement, experience ultramodern Kuala Lumpur in the heart of Malaysia, or take in the beautiful bayside sights of sunny Melbourne on the coast of Australia. More
...

Checked a rate in BNE at Christmas time; special rate for one person came out $17 more than the cheapest flexible rate - but it does include breakfast.

Darn - teh Conrad in HKG isn't on the list. I did this for my recent NY stay and for US$10/night - I think I racked up something ridiculous like 150K off one stay...

Mmmm very tempting. Am looking at the Hilton Tokyo as all the SPG options in Tokyo seem coughpy looking or far away from where I want to be. The Hilton Tokyo is exactly where I want to be!! (Shinjuku)

Can anyone who's stayed at the Hilton Tokyo tell me what it's like? And what should I get as HH Gold and booked into the cheapest room?

Was there in March for 1 night.

As a gold, upgraded to Exec floor, given exec lounge access from the cheapest rate I could find (ended up booking 2 x Queens instead of a King cause it was about $10 cheaper ;) I was upgraded to a King per my profile).

It's in a decent location - a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku station, there is also a bus or a short trainride. From the airport, easiest to catch one of the Limousine busses.

Nice hotel. Well set out. Staff friendly. Kind of like most other nice Hilton's I've been in, but with a small Japanese feel to the hotel.

Regarding the double points offer, I rebooked a Hilton stay that I'm due to have later this year for the same price, but double points. Not sure if I'm going to cancel the stay anyway, but it's a good backup.

Hmmm. Just had a look at Millenium Hilton Bangkok in December and the King Hilton with double points is US$31++ more than the advance purchase rate and also looked at Hilton Kuala Lumpur for the same period but no cheap rooms available for double points only a Twin Executive Room at MYR680++.

Doesn't appear to be worth it but I am sure the experts have a better understanding of the HH program and what double points are worth....

Thanks Mal. :)

Just to clarify - does the 'double HH points' rate comes with brekkies as the promotional website indicated, or do I need to click on the 'bed and breakfast' rate? Because nowhere in the rate plan of the 'double HH points' rate was brekkies mentioned...:-|

Then again I'm also not sure if $40 extra over the restrictive rate (making it a grand total of $89 over the Sheraton where I was originally booked) is worth it for breakfast and the double points given that I don't credit to HH all that often... hmmm.

Select the "DOUBLE HH POINTS" rate.

FWIW, the Melbourne Hilton on the Park "DOUBLE HH POINTS" rates seem to match the "BED AND BREAKFAST" rates. ('cept that you get double base points)

Cheers mate. Confirmed this with the Hilton people and yes the double HH pts rate comes with brekkies. I know I'm paranoid but...

Just re-evaluating my options now. Is paying A$40/night worth it for the double points? Because I apparently get free brekkies vouchers at this hotel as a Gold (according to FT posts from a year ago). And so if I don't credit to HH on a regular basis is the extra $40 per night for double pts still worth it? *paging HH experts*

And uhh, are they strict with enforcing the following term:

Members who do not earn points in any 12 month consecutive month period may be removed from the Program and, if so, are subject to forfeiture of all accumulated points. The account may be reactivated by the member taking one of the following actions:
  1. stay at an HHonors hotel, thus reactivating membership
  2. earn HHonors points through any third party source of HHonors point accumulation
  3. purchase HHonors points

I got my Gold status due to FF status and I've not stayed at a HH this whole year and I don't want my account/status deactivated before I arrive in TYO.

Besides SIN, TYO is the other city I'm staying out of SPG (as the hotels in these cities are in cough locations or of coughpola quality). I feel so guilty... :D

Like any program, depends on what you're using the points on. If I get to New York again I'll probably try and use them there. I've noticed that the Hiltons in Manhattan can often cost around the $400 USD mark, so that makes 40,000 Hhonors points (the cost in points for a night) worth about 1c per point. So to spend an extra $40AUD , you'd want to get at least an extra 3600 pts ($36USD) - so you're room rate (as a gold) would need to be more than $288 USD to make it worthwhile.

Hmm, the room rate is about JPY28900 for the double pts rate and JPY24900 for the cheapo adv purchase rate. That's somewhat short of USD288...:-|

I'm also exploring the airline option which gives BD 1000 miles/night. Would the miles I send over to BD also double if I select the double pts option? If so, 6000 miles for a 3 night stay is pretty good when you consider how awesome the value of BD pts is. Nearly halfway to an F award to Asia using Cash + miles. Otherwise I might just go for the HH points and HH points option.

Sorry for sounding like such a n00b.

There's a better offer out now:

Hilton HHonors | HHonors Landing Page

"Stay at a participating Hilton hotel in Australia, Fiji or New Zealand on a Fully Flexible rate between October 1 and December 31, 2007, and you will be rewarded with triple HHonors Base points and triple Velocity Rewards points for the same stay! That's 30 Hilton HHonors Base points per US$1 spend on qualifying rates, and 3,000 Velocity Rewards points per stay."

Of course I assume you have to change your airline earning partner to Velocity Rewards before the stay though.

Excellent pick-up serfty. Will suit me for my end of year trips as all my regular Hiltons are on the list. I have a couple of nights in ADL in January either side of a Conference, so I'll get some at very least.

Hmmm, then I read Mal's post. Is it worth signing on for a Velocity account just to get triple HH points before the end of the year ... (not concerned about the loss of points to my usual double dip AA, as the triple points are more valuable).

[Yes, I do realise there is a slight difference in the offer period]

Decided to go with the double HH pts as I didn't particularly want to start another FF program.

Can anyone tell me which earn option I should go for? At the moment I've gone for HH points and variable miles (AA) as I worked that out to be more miles than the fixed miles option. But should I be going for the HH pts and HH pts option instead? I'm quite confused.

For HH I have always used the extra HH points for my double-dip option. I can use HH points for free stays and have been able to earn significant numbers of them in the past, gaining me way more value than any FF program points would have done.

Thanks, NM. As I don't stay at HH properties all that much, I think I should go for the extra HH pts so I save up for a decent award. :)

BTW will they really deactivate my account in lieu of zero stays in a year or more?

Having a look at some times for myself, I couldn't get any availability for the nights/places I was looking at...

I used to points to the airline but once I had a few HH stays planned I switched to completely with HHonors rather than any with the airlines. I have gone from 25K points last December to 400K point just before I booked my 6 night stay at the Waldorf for mrssimongr and I next year :) I still have 220K points and 10 more days in the cConrad coming up :D

my multiple experiences @ Tokyo Hilton - Shinjuku has been all good!

great location (not just for my work office but also electronic shopping & restaurants!)

Big LCD TVs

Great beds & multiple choice of pillows

6MB/sec download :shock::shock: yes, 6MB!!!!!! and its free (note - that speed was using wired, however free wireless is also available but decrease in speeds)

Staying in a Club Exec room entitles you to have free breakfast or free evening coughtails at the Club Lounge - and if you score Tokyo on a nice day you have a great full view of Mt Fuji!

Hopefully by the time you get there they will have finished the lobby renovations - it was all boarded up last time I was there!

Shinjuku ROCKS! enjoy...

Cheers for the review tscharke.

Indeed it does! :D Which is why I'm so keen to find a hotel within staggering distance of the bars and clubs.....;) I don't trust myself to take the correct train back to the hotel at 5am and not entirely sober.
