I am heading the DPRWA today and after reading @oz_mark comments Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted I have ensured my travel plans are in order:
  • Passport – check,
  • ICV – check,
  • Cross border visa – check
  • G2G App – check
  • SafeWA App – check
  • Negative Covid PCR test -check

I wasn’t going to write this as it will most likely be quite boring so am only going to cover the travel and see how many AFF threads I can weave into it. Time to start, Lounge Meets June 2021

Used Uber to get to the airport booked via the QF app and after seeing this post Qantas-Uber tie-up I am not sure if the points just flow through. We have arrived at the airport I'm in the QF Lounge thread however this time it is a little different and received an email as reported at the Platinum One experiences so I am in a much nicer place. MissM has not been in this lounge and wanted to know why we don't use this one all the time.

Once linked you can just use uber app, points for airport trips always post within 24hours for me. Uber rewards redeemed for QFF points can take up to 48hours to show.

We are likely to be half way to WA and this is the longest flight we have taken in approximately 15 months and the last flight we took that was over 3 hours was a bit more comfortable Across the Ditch for a Birthday now back to the narrow body. It would not be a report without some type or commentary on the food so the Qantas Domestic International Business Class meals/menus was some type of pork dish with apple sauce. I didn’t eat it all as I had eaten in the lounge. At least the Wi-Fi is still good.

I arrived around 10 pm and check in was seamless The Hotel had called the day before to confirm if we would like a spare bed for MissM which was set up on arrival. True to my normal form I had booked the cheapest room and put my trust in status for an upgrade and end up in a junior suite. More details are in the How do Hilton treat you as an elite? thread

A small amount of free stuff was in the room for us.

So a bit more on the accomodation, the TV in the lounge room wasn’t working however the bedroom TV was fine. The staff made a couple of attempts to fix it without success. The lady came back about 10 minutes later and informed us that we had been offered an additional room for the night so we could use the TV in that room, I wasn’t expecting that. I must admit I did consider suggesting to the girls that they stay in that room and I will stay in the suite but decided not to. I went off to the other room and there was an immediate sense of familiarity, i.e. hotel room for one (pre covid). I would suggest this was the type of room I had originally booked.

Mrs and MissM seem to have found a use for QF amenity kit bags, cosmetics.

Edit. When we were in the lounge MissM needed to go back up to the room (post 9). I then realised that MrsM has helped herself to other items in my hoard and put them to use, this time jewellery.

So day one in Perth it got off to a slow start there some reasons for this first was my need to get to a glasses shop (spec savers, OPSM) any would do and I will come back to this. The other been MissM had a school assignment due and she wanted to get this out of the way and submitted. As @cove mentioned the weather was PERfect and we went to the zoo in the late morning. I have been to PER on a few occasions however most of these were for work, normally flying in the night before and out the following day so this is the first time I am actually getting opportunity to have a look around. As with most trips a visit to the mall/ shops is high on the agenda, I am sure the shops in PER are the same as ADL or MEL but apparently there is stuff here that is not available so the CC gets a smacking in the name of travel and holidays. Anyhow we are now in the lounge and it is quite nice it is all self service and the spread was not bad cold cuts, spicy chicken, smoked salmon, fruit and limited cheese board. The hot food comes out at 18:00.

Edit. Rather than creating another post hot food is now on offer, scallops with ginger and eggplant with coconut cream and capsicum. Pork belly is being offered and I noticed another cheese had be added but it had already been attacked.

Good to see they've improved on the single hot item from six weeks ago. Although I still think it's ridiculous hot items only make an appearance at 6pm.

Dinner was at Matilda Bay, food, dinks and the company was excellent. Thanks to @JohnM for organising.

So you classify MrsDaver6 and I as the dinks and the rest as company? 🤣

Great night. Thanks to my Uber driver @JohnM. I gave him 5 stars despite the lack of pre-departure champagne.

So yesterday was the final day of the short get away to PER and we were flying back with VA I'm in the VA Lounge thread and it was a bit of a ghost town which maybe understandable given the low flying and the fact it was a public holiday in PER. The lounge offerings were limited however not dissimilar to other VA lounge offerings. The flights were in J and onboard were offered a choice of a chicken, avocado and cheese brioche or a quinoa salad the alternative which reading through the Virgin Australia Business Class Catering Service Meal times Menus seems to be standard offering. I went with the chicken, MissM had the salad. I did not get a picture of the salad has MissM was on the other side of the aircraft. After the meal was served the CSM seemed to disappear, re-appeared to take away the trays and then disappeared again.
