I'm in the VA Lounge thread

Looks like this QR code (because of) Covid food and drink ordering system is the pits.
I think I will get to the ADL VA lounge earlier a bit in June, just to have a look see of the place.
Ta for the info, Jurahn and others.

One thing I found which may be helpful is regarding selections when ordering a item - you usually have to click a round button (for a single option) or a tick box (if you can choose multiple options). It can sometimes take several seconds to register that you’ve pressed/tapped that option - I would think it hadn’t recognised me selecting it and pressed it again, only for the app to recognise BOTH touches and so select and then deselect the item! Also found that I needed to press the red button link/s for a couple of seconds rather than just tapping when confirming/placing an order otherwise it wouldn’t work.

YMMV - it could just be that my phone screen needs a clean LOL.

Is lounge crowded due to system outage?
No - it's quite the picture of calm, maybe 3/4 full. The queues for food and drink are only 3 - 4 people.

I'm fortunate enough to have checked in on line and have carry on luggage, but the queues downstairs at check in are out through the doors and when I walked past the departure gates they were ticking names off on print outs. It's going to be a late night for many people. My flight has been delayed by 30 minutes, but that might stretch out longer.

Ahh, spending Friday night in an airport lounge, with delayed flights. Life seems to be returning to normal :-(

I spoke too soon. The screens just updated to say my flight is now scheduled to depart five minutes ago, but it's still not showing boarding yet. But it's not as bad as the flight to Mackay, which was scheduled to depart at 1520 and now hope to depart at 2115

Seriously - it is now 21:18 and VA still have not officially cancelled the 1905 flight - what are they playing at? Even if they board now and hot rod it all the way down the coast it'll never make curfew. I don't understand why they would wait to cancel..........

It's finally been cancelled... And I'm staying up late to pick up friends arriving in BNE.

Finally back in SYD this morning on the 7:05 service, after a night at the Hyatt Regency in BNE - where the staff were really lovely and kept the kitchen open to make me some dinner. KUDOS HRB.

Since this si a lounge thread I wanted to compliment the VA lounge crew last night who struggled with a lack of information and continuously long line of people all asking the same questions. I was there from about 5:45 and it did not stop until nearly 9.30pm. They earned their money and I expressed my thanks to them after they did a dodgy transfer of my booking before my flight was officially cancelled.

Now that the excitement is over, we return this thread to your usual programming.......................

In Sydney lounge they have a few basic spirits now. The "bartender" very carefully measured out a 3/4 nip for me and my partner (as if it was from his own private stash) I couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

Ha. Try ordering a double.

A friend who flew MEL-SYD for work this morning said the QF lounge was closed.
Does anyone know if the VA lounge (MEL) is open this week? Thanks

The current Melbourne Lounge (The Club) is open takeaway only. You can get some food and a coffee then you have to go out back into the terminal. I guess it is better than nothing.

The Gold Lounge is closed.

That's actually not such a bad compromise IMHO.

In Brisbane Lounge until 7.30pm. Can guest 1. It's very empty in here.

There are more cancelled flights than those going on the board.

EDIT: And I just realised looking at the picture, my flight has been delayed an hour, but the Virgin app is still showing it as running on time. Ah, what would a Friday night in an airport lounge be like if flights did run on time?
