There have been lounge improvements for sure in AJs time.
None other than forced - see my initial post in this thread.

In my opinion as a WP, the "International Lounge" concept where implemented has been a downgrade not an improvement.

I certainly disagree with you regarding your comments about the old BNE First section being a pigsty.

That's the nub of it.

For WPs in particular, they have seen their experience diminish under AJ as previous WP benefits have been siphoned off to P1 (eg free exit row seat selection) and previous WP exclusives (eg First lounges) have been removed in favour of combined SG/WP lounges.

Since AJ took over, the First lounges at at BNE, HKG and SIN have been closed and replaced with glorified QP's with AKL slated for the same.

But weren't those lounges also joint lounges with BA? So they weren't exclusively QF run lounges. pretty costly to run 2 lounges along in HKG for QF.

If the so-called "First" hole looks like the current AKL or the past BNE lounge but the combined one looks like the SIN lounge, then I'll happily sit with all those awful J class and Gold status holders and enjoy my perfect freshly prepared Laksa.

I for one won't spare a single tear for the god-awful "chicken drumsticks" or "lamb chops" in the AKL "First" lounge once that disgrace of a lounge finally, FINALLY, closes its doors forever.

I guess we can agree to differ - the food at AKL F was pretty good before the AA flight last month.

As for using BNE International I activity try to avoid it with QF these days.

In the 90's there was a joint venture in SIN with BA and QF but this ceased I believe when Qantas renovated those lounges around the turn of the century.

Also, in the late 90's the QF J and Flounges occupied the current QF space at HKG - you had to walk through the J lounge to reach the First lounge.
