Will you ever fly the 737 MAX?

The biggest difference between this grounding and those that affected aircraft in the past is the internet. That could be a force for good or bad, but there’s a lot more information (and false information) around now than there was in the past. People have short memories, and are price sensitive, so they’re willing to forget various airlines that I won’t fly on. But, you can imagine the media if (say) QF announced an order for the MAX.

Actually that won’t happen, ‘cos AJ hasn’t ordered any aircraft for QF.

Interesting responses. If VA do end up taking orders, I'll be forced to fly them or I'm out of a job. At this rate it looks like I'll be flying an overpowered 737 around Australia empty.

Will you fly the MAX?

NO. If Virgin proceeds with its MAX orders I will never fly Virgin again. I will also encourage my family and friends to do likewise.

The MAX is based on a very old plane and a series of patches and 'improvements'. The regulators may eventually deem it safe to fly but they've certainly gotten that wrong in the past. They don't enjoy my confidence.

I am also losing confidence in Boeing generally ... inter alia, the above, the B787 battery issues and Mick Gibson's analysis of MH370 re B777s and windscreen heater fires.

Interestingly logged onto our corporate travel portal yesterday and there was the normal boiler template statement about Max being grounded etc but updated with we are adding functionality for you to clearly see and filter aircraft type so moving forward if you need to remove aircraft type from your search it will be possible....

Southwest Airlines have now removed the Max8 from all scheduling until mid August.

In our online portal, they'd done it already, and blocked 737 MAX flights from booking. I was trying to book a specific Silkair flight, after grounding, but before schedule was updated, and I couldn't book that flight until rescheduled with different type.
