The Qantas site still says the QP's are at the top of the escalators... So has it opened yet? If so, anyone been and willing to give a review?

Mal...

I noticed earlier today on the QP News site, it mentioned that the interim longue in SYD is open opposite gate 24.

I will be departing SYD on Monday night, so unless anyone beats me too the punch, I will post a quick report then...

SYD-LHR in 16A... Yay! :D

I'm in the temp F lounge now. Pretty much same on offer but the other lounge definately has a better view and feel to it. Computers seem good speed. The Krug is on display, none is on ice and no staff serving. Gotta go now.

What a waste

I'm there now; they started serving Krug tastings (~50ml) at 2pm.

I have taken some small images (<10kb each) will try to post.

Yeah, though I'm starting to get strange looks after going up for my third dram....

I did, an very nice it was too. They shot through just after 4pm.

I'm still here though; my 6pm flight is now est to depart 10pm.

My flight is now running 4 hours late so I have had plenty of time to do a mini trip report.

WHen I checked in at the F desk, I was given a card with information and a map showing how to get to the new lounge.

After going thru imagration I still took the 'special staircase' to the old F lounge. As one would expect, it was closed. Workers were removing decals etc from inside the glass doors. You can't see them in the image.

I went down the lift and noticed plates had been put on the button indicators for the J lounge, hiding the F stuff. New signs have been put up in the consourse with directions. You can't really read the bottom bit but it indicates the Qantas First-Class lounge.

The entrance is as for the old QP, not much change.

The is some fancyful artwork around around and a few paintings.

There are four workstations with PC and printer and discretely scattered around are modem ports.

The furnishings have been updated, a bit hard to take pix of people however. There is a TV viewing area which is also a designated mobile free zone.

It's the same food / beverage service area as the old J lounge. The tucker's a lot better though.

The food bar was serviced regularly. I took a pix of a plate of rare roast beef, tempura 'prawns' and some cheese.

Outside is Gate 31. Earlier there was an Air Pacific 747 being turned around.

All in all quite comfortable. It's a bit larger than the one just relocated from. It will be interesting to see where and how large the new one being built is.

It's now 6 hours since first came here, I have another two to go. If any have any questions, feel free to post.

Thanks serfty

Any chance you can email me those pics? I'll bet QF in AKL wont issue directions to the temporary lounge.

Enjoy your flights, and happy birthday for Sunday.

Sorry boys, I ate it all before it could melt / dematerialise.

Kiwi, If you can't wait until next week for those images, you can either:
1) View my post with them, right click each image and select save as ... , or

2) Do a quoted reply on the post and extract the URL's from the text.

Please excuse my ignorance but is this new Sydney lounge international or is it the same QP I have used for domestic.

Also, with regards to First lounges, can a WP flying econ domestic/international go in?

Regards
Daniel

It is international, it is in SYD T1, the Domestic QP's at SYD are in T2 & T3; T3's being the main one.

Yes, I have accessed the J & F lounges in SYD T1 many times when flying the domestic sector of an international flight.
