Guess which airline came last in OTPs and first in cancellations in SEP?

Interesting article and a sign that there is change in the winds of the aviation marketplace in Australia, especially given the stikes started to bite for only the last 8 days of the month, well done to REX for being the best of all the airlines for timings, it shows that an old fleet does not have to move slow :) :

JETSTAR cancelled more domestic flights than Qantas last month, despite the flying kangaroo being hit by ongoing strikes. But Qantas had the highest number of late-running planes, with just over 80 per cent of domestic flights departing on time.

REX is a good airline, have never found a fault with their service. Well done!

Actually, while Rex performed the best of the regional, Tiger was doing well at 0 cancellations, and 91% on-time!!

I try to ignore that "airline" but its a good point!

(Not wanting to go into a Virgin versus QF battle.)

Weird to see Virgin actually had more cancellations in number of flights then Qantas (lower percentage though)

Yeah I saw that, it is weird...

Not really, DJ has 1403 more scheduled flights or 13.7% more than Qantas.

However, of the 16,643 scheduled flights, 201 were cancelled; this was 14 more cancellations than Qantas 187 out of 10,240 scheduled. 201 is 1.7% of DJ scheduled flights while 187 is 1.8% of Qantas'.

I always add in qantaslink to the qf stats. Makes it more on par with the dj stats.

They do make interesting reading tho.

Nono my point was the fact that DJ cancelled more flights (in absolute numbers) then QF, even with all the strikes. To be honest I never realised that there are so many cancellations. Those 201 is more then 6 flights a day. But on the other hand it is only a very low percentage. If that makes sense  :D

And my personal on time performance is ~20%-40% so those statistics do not really mean much to me.

Is there any way to get a breakdown of those statistics by route? I would be interested in SYD-BNE and vv.

They are published in the BITRE OTP reports.

Thanks guys. It is quite clear that SYD-BNE is not one of QF's better key routes when it comes to on time performance.

Maybe you'll get better reliability flying via CBR/MEL :p
My friend was supposed to be on DJ for that sector last year, but the flight was cancelled, and DJ bought her a QF ticket. The question is, if she was on QF to begin with, and they cancelled the flight, would they get her a DJ ticket?

Yes, most IATA airlines will do this (if there are no other reasonable options).

I was booked on a QF (Jetconnect) Flight AKL-WLG, it was xld and I was put on NZ.
