General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

If we think Australia is slow with vaccine rollout then what about some of the EU contries.Italy
I’d say even those in Italy know that they are in a mess, and not just vaccine availability.

Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the
Swiss. Hell is where the chefs are British, the mechanics French, the lover's Swiss, the police German and it's all organised by the Italians.

As for Australia there should have been quantitative estimators up to the task. If they can't get it right, how about using an insect/moth to grow the spike, and snort it ground up into the nasal cavity. See Wolbachia mosquito.

AMA chief says Queensland government's 'double failure' led to doctor contracting COVID-19

The Australian Medical Association has launched a scathing attack on Queensland Health, accusing the department and the Queensland government of a "double failure" after a Queensland doctor contracted the COVID-19.

Queensland Health confirmed on Saturday the doctor had not received the Pfizer vaccine, which began being rolled out in the hospital late last month

AMA president Omar Khorshid said a lack of appropriate personal protective equipment and a slow rollout of the vaccine in Queensland had led to the infection.

“There's plenty of vaccine for all of the workers in the phase 1a, yet after three weeks, we're only halfway through the task in Queensland”

No side effects so far.. stark contrast to Mrs FB. Different vaccines though. Speaking to my neighbour though she was unwell a few days and her other half had no side effects like me.

Let's see what the 2nd jab brings..

Another study showing much greater response to vaccine if you have had Covid.

And not surprising is peoples opinions of the vaccines. But the AZ vaccine is the most popular in the UK where it has been used the most.

According to that Pfizer is just as popular. That's what I had today so happy days. Spoke to a mate this evening and he had AZ but wanted Pfizer. Win some lose some...

On the plus side 'Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the individual had received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination" , and as NSW also put household members of HQ workers into 1a so hopefully people they live with also have some protection already.

Now we wait to see what the irrational states do in reponse and if there is any double standard wrt QLD where infected doctor wasnt vaccinated vs nsw where the HQ worker was vaccinated.
Apparently there is a national meeting this afternoon. Just get the vaccine out there and stop this madness of threatened border closures.

It will be happening for months. Just need to get the vaccination process happening more efficiently.
I listened to the presser with Scomo and Murphy this morning and it was informative. It’s been lack of vaccines that has been holding things up. They have been getting a steady but small supply of Pfizer each week, but not much AZ. Because there is a 3 week gap with the Pfizer they have had to hold back a fair bit for second doses. 1b should be starting Australia wide on the 22nd and will ramp up as the AZ supply is produced by CSL. They had graphs of the number of delivery points (GPs etc) and it looked quite impressive so I think things will really speed up in April.

ScoMo also said it’s not a race, but if one area has spare capacity to deliver while another is a bit slower, they will shift supply to the one with capacity. They are also hoping that CSL will be able to produce more than 1 million doses a week.

That’s true - however it also sounded like they have moved Torres Strait Islanders from 1b to 1a and have been vaccinating them, as they are concerned about spread from Papua New Guinea. I guess at the moment they have to prioritise where they see the biggest risk.
Or they could just start vaccinating a lot more people which was what was always required to meet the target, as oppose to just making an announcement.

That's just disinformation designed to shift the blame. We have 1.1 million doses of the vaccine in the country but only 125K have been vaccinated. The real problem seems to be that we just don't have the capacity to actually roll out the vaccine.

This has been the problem in many countries already but we don't seem to have learnt from their mistakes.

Where does that 1.1 million figure come from.I can't find it.

Interesting as I remember someone baking Vic because a Vic HQ member went to one volunteers function. And yet here you have someone with a fulltime office job and no outrage at all.
Well I'm not impressed by this latest news. That's why I raised it. I wasn't sure of the facts so hence the question.

This mentions 1.3m doses in Australia

So supply not the issue yet that is the ongoing excuse.
