General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

We have to think that the vaccination helps. The rarity is finding someone who hasn't had Covid now. Like my brother and SIL. And she works at Covid testing station. Hope you feel better soon.
Not that rare.

Me, mum, dad, brother, wife, daughter.

Lucky or doing something right? We stay away from large groups of people. Don't need to sit in pub or restaurant. Do shopping quickly and get out.

Dear <serfty>

We hope that you have recovered from your recent COVID-19 diagnosis.

If you are due for a vaccine dose, you should wait for three months after you have tested positive for COVID-19.

If you have any questions, please speak with your GP or visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/vaccine

Thank you for keeping Victoria safe.

I received the same.

3 months post covid puts me in the US, so I guess it gets done when we get home. I was right on six months post booster when I got it too.

This seems to be a recurring theme amongst people i know, avoided covid no worries for first 2.5 years of the pandemic - hit 6 months post our 3rd dose (late December 21) and you get a mild dose of covid.

I still think had I been able to get a 4th dose, that I likely would have been completely asymptomatic.

Yep my 4th dose will now be post overseas travel when I would have preferred for it to be before. Can only hope that by October there is a new formala available.

How many RAT tests have you done?
I didn't think I had covid just my hay fever but RAT test positive. in fact I still think the symptoms were my hay fever so if no test I wouldn't have known.
You say you have had several infections. did you test with any of them?

I have it just now.
I am 8 months post booster (dose 3).
I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
The only thing comparable I can think of is when I had influenza about 5 years ago and was in bed for a week.

Sorry to hear you are unwell.

Im on my final day of iso, tested positive last Sunday and whilst Ive had no energy, a head ache (might be the fact no coffee for 7 days) and a head cold its been no where near as debilitationg as colds Ive had in the past which have required pharamaceuticals.

Still seems to be variable as to how badly it hits different people. The people I know who have said it is really bad have all had secondary infections at the same time.

I've done quite a few RAT tests. All negative.

My last 3 infections have been

- gastroenteritis last week in Thailand
-some sort of cold/flu although I wouldn't say flu more like a cold with a cough
- UTI (waiting on results of urine sample)

By the way the cold was first infection this year. Had flu shot in May and I'm having another flu shot in August before heading off to Thailand.

I'm isolating now, after a positive test 5 months after the booster.
Initially, I had a sore throat, but mostly have just been tired. Haven't really had the other symptoms that seem to get reported.

Agree but some people think it will.
I think it was marketed differently on what the vaccine will achieve before it came out. And the spiel has changed many times since to suit the narrative.

I'd be happy if they could somehow incorporate influenza and covid in the same vaccine although covid may need 2 boosters a year.

… and from my understanding was never meant to do so.

I completely disagree. There are numerous people in US who stated, unequivocally, that if you got the jab, it would stop the spread. Rachael Maddow is one example who stated this on her show to millions of viewers.

I guess that was meant facetiously? :)

i think there was the assumption that vaccination reduced symptoms and that means reduced coughing and sneezing so less chance of spreading to others.
