Gamble Taken and Lost

I won't mention my Telstra shares!
If we are all telling our sob stories then I bought some IAG shares @$5.60 and $6.54 a few years back. I really thought they were going to go higher but have now settled around the $3.90 mark. Still not too bad as I received a bundle of shares for nothing and with dividend re-investment the portfolio is growing....

Growing is not a word I would use for my Telstra investment!

Move on, let it go and have the trip of a lifetime instead of looking back 5 yrs from now and realising what else you lost in your fight for a refund.

Agree the OP should go and enjoy the honeymoon, and not get brought down by the change in fares.

How about we mention Babcock & Brown shares then?
Not a good example for a sob story. Anyone who did their homework would have realised they had an unsustanible way of doing business.

Just glad I got out early. ;)

And to think people like this poster are allowed to vote!!
That's a bit rough. It's OK to post an issue like this and see if there was much they could do. Test the waters, sort of ...

It's obvious they took it in given their later post:
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my concern and even more so with the replies.

I know what you have written is right, and is crystal clear. I guess in simple terms I just cannot qualify the huge difference in prices for what is exactly the same.

And with that, again, I really sincerely understand and appreciate your advice and suggestions, and I will enjoy my honeymoon ...

Not sure why the OP is being (lightly) attacked.

He was asking if he had any recourse, and we've answered his question!

/off topic/

Dont ask about my TOL shares.........

He was asking if he had any recourse, and we've answered his question!
Actually, he was asking for an email address / addresses of people a little higher up in V Australia to send his complaint. He did acknowledge that he has no legal recourse. See posts #1 and #2.

And we have not answered his question, except to say there is no point in sending the letter.

Must be a bigger gambler than you YYM , bought some for $5.51....ouch....!!!! still, no regrets. Only did it to stop future t/o's
True... no regrets from me either... I am hanging in there for the long term.

At least I got something out of it; experience (and dividends) - experience is what you get when you don't get the result you were after...

This kinda reminds me of the Apple iPhone debacle when they dropped the price of the unit from its initial launch price within months. One crazy lady even took the case to court.

But anyway, as has been said, there's probably not much you can do. Certainly, send a message to customer service and see what they say, but don't be oppressed if they stick by the rules.

At least yours was a "gamble" that you lost, not someone like me who could be mistaken for a total goose. (I've had my moments - luckily the losses have not totalled close to $1000 yet.)

Enjoy your honeymoon.
