I’ve not dealt with or seen any offers from this bank previously. But I decided to have a go and sign up.

Some key points for the current offer:

1) Sign up, spend $5000 in the first 90 days and get 50,000 bonus QFF points.

2) Annual fee of $299.

3) Earn 1 QFF point per $1 spend, up to 20,000 QFF points in a month.

4) No fee for an additional card holder.

5) Note for new customers only (a 24 month exclusion period for this card).

I just saw this one too and think it will be my next CC, as my 70K from Suncorp just hit my account. I'm running out of banks as I have to wait a few months for the 12 months from closing a CC to tick over.

Thanks @Dr Ralph. I applied today but got a message saying one of their lending specialists needed to contact me.

Looks like this may not be an easy process.

Very odd questions asked as well.

I had a call from the bank today.

In short, this isn’t like any regular experience I have had with other major banks.

The person wanted to confirm every detail in my application. Then asked for the email address of my payroll department and certified copies of payslips + my ID documents.

Happy to play along – but be warned this isn’t a regular application.

FYI,

Received this email today:

‘Hi DrRalph,

Thank you for your interest in G&C Platinum Visa Credit Card.

Document Required

Drivers Licence (front & back)

MEDICARE

Permission to obtain and disclose credit (attached)

Manager’s email address or payroll department’s email address

All statements required

From 13/10/2023 to 13/11/2023 (LAST 30 DAYS) savings statements inclusive of name, address, account number & full transaction history statements required showing income deposits.

From 13/10/2023 to 13/11/2023 (LAST 30 DAYS) All liability statements inclusive of name, address, account number & full transaction history statements for Home Loan, Personal Loan, Novated Lease, HECS, Credit Cards, Zippay, Afterpay etc…..’

And then 10 minutes later:

‘Hi Dr Ralph,

In reference to our previous email, please provide also payslip dated 30/06/2023 or Tax Return on 30/06/2023 ( not a notice of assessment).’

Seems like overkill not worth the effort for the points
Agree.

But I suspect that they will not meet the terms of awarding the points on time (it's like dealing with a corner store business). So I'm fairly confident of getting these points for free. I've had success with this strategy before, including with ANZ and StGeorge over the past 3 months.

Could you please share more about what you mean with this strategy?
