Free ALL Gold Status for QF Silver or above - also Points Club Plus

This loyalty offer seems to be all over the place. Should have gone to the experts @trippin_the_rift ;) :D

Happens a lot. We manage some really large brand names because they got burned hard doing status matching themselves.
The worst is when airlines think they're doing a good job, and yet could be doubling the effectiveness of all the right metrics by outsourcing.
Similar to as if airlines tried to create their own aeroplanes. Why bother? Just go to the folks who are experts.

This raises an interesting question. What do you think of the loyalty expertise at the big airlines/hotels in Australia? Are some better than others? Are they generally quite competent people effectively using all the data they have to hand? Or are they approaching more as art than science?

Just like most places in the world, there are bright sparks and, not-so-bright ones.
Virgin is basically all ex-QF folks so I think we need to be honest and ask how likely they are to be innovative and do something new. More likely risk-aversion and more copy-copy-copy.

If anything I would say they both focus more on the science than the art of loyalty. I published an article on this topic a while back and why loyalty programs need a balance between the two (not lip service to one, but a true balance). You can read it here: The Magic of Loyalty

for what it's worth, from my end: I clicked the link on the email and ended up on the accor website, where it put me on Fast Track, as I mentioned earlier.
I then used the link to the QF website provided earlier in this thread and got the QF email saying I've now been registered for ALL Gold status. I guess if it takes a few weeks I'll check ALL once in a while to see if it's gone through.

So I didn't receive an invitation email, but found out about this offer via AFF and the link to the form on Qantas website. I was able to register on that and got a confirmation email saying ALL Gold status is coming my way, so fingers crossed... I'll check back in a month to see if it worked.

As for how they gift it not sure however I registered and as a P1 had to stay one night to get Platinum checked out yesterday and already upgraded. I have also registered MrsM's account so I suspect she will get upgraded to Gold.

I have the confirmation email from Qantas confirming registration but nothing from ALL. 🫣
The promo says 4 weeks, so there will be nothing from Accor until the upgrade is confirmed. It has been just over two weeks since I registered, so waiting with patience.

No gold for me either, but i'm staying in an Accor hotel this weekend so I know the gold will come through monday :)

My gold hasnt come through yet which is unfortunate as currently staying at an accor property and checking into another tomorrow, following these two stas will have hit gold on my own accord anyway.

Next Accor stay wont benefit as it is in US and booked via Qantas Hotels aswas cheaper for same room than booking direct with all accor.

That always begs the question what value of benefits you might have received v cost difference eg a room upgrade etc.

Plus the other usual loyalty “handcuff” benefits of points earning and status night count etc.

True but it was a couple of hundred difference in price (as unfortunately usa is exluded from plus even though it is also in pacific), and as upgrade not guaranteed thought it best to save dollars and take the huge wad of bonus QFF points from points club. The room ive booked is more than adequate.

There’s actually not a lot of Accor properties across the US (although they are over represented in the higher end categories).

OT, but I usually lurch towards Hilton in the US. There’s usually something for everybody and can be cheap mattress runs along the way.

OT ruled out Hilton as all their Chicago properties had Shubs, i will not book any room with a shower over a tub. There are actually a lot of accor properties in Chicago. In NY im staying IHG.

I had a similar situation in that it was significantly cheaper to book an Accor property in Aus via booking.com than it was direct. I called them up to see if they'd price match, especially given the slice they'd be giving away to booking.com but got a firm 'non'.

Given I'm Diamond w HH and Plat Elite w IHG, and given previous comments in this forum about the application of ALL benefits, I wasn't prepared to fight for something I might receive. Sometimes. If I'm lucky. So ALL will remain Plan C unless something significant happens.

Seems a funny way to run a loyalty scheme.
