Free ALL Gold Status for QF Silver or above - also Points Club Plus

Im now gold, but pretty sure due to the $ value of 2 recent stays and not this promo kicking in.

Hey all,

Couple questions, need to change hotels in Singapore for Christmas as was able to arrive 5 days earlier due to J awards becoming available.
Q1. Is the room upgrade provided at check in (if available) or booking? Trying to determine if there is a benefit to booking before being given gold under this promo.
Q2. I get 5% off best price with my membership when booking whilst logged in, if I was to take up the Accor Plus would the benefit just be an additional 5% to equal the 10% or would it be on top? Don't expect the free night but perhaps the discount may be worth it for a free night later on.

thanks

At check-in but might show in the app beforehand closer to the stay.

1. At check-in
2. IME the discounts do not stack. There will be whatever gives you the 5%, and the AccorPlus will be a 10% discount. It won't be 5%+10%,

thanks Both,

Ok, so no benefit in waiting to book as room upgrade is given at check in only.

Additionally, assuming i can save an additional 5% above the 5% i can already get (total 10%), i'd be saving an additional $90 with Accor plus, if i use my Wife's family address in Thailand i can get Accor plus for ~$290 aud. Assuming i am able to use the free night (~$200) then i'd be breaking even before using other benefits such a food & drink discounts.

now to decide what to do, Accor plus or not

Depends if you like eating at hotel restaurants.... :)

good point, have a stay at an MGallery in Thailand with the in laws so may have some meals at the hotel. Also have trip to the fairmont in Blue Mountains with friends, assume there would be a possibility of food and drinking there too.

stay in Singapore with just the family for the booking i'm looking to make may not get a lot of food use.

Suits some people thats for sure
We eat regularly at Garçon Bleu even when not staying there and it’s a pretty good restaurant IMO. Accor plus saves us anywhere from $100-200 each visit.
Some places like Novotel Barossa Valley and Peppers Cradle Mountain you haven’t got any other real options close by so just as easy to eat in and have saved anywhere from $100-200 each time aswell.
I generally don’t eat at hotel restaurants when we stay there but sometimes it’s just practical

Exactly, every trip and every persons taste will be different you just make it work for you!

Personally hotel food is usually last resort for me, can’t wait to get out of them. But if you are trapped somewhere with no options then it is another story.

Actually thought about it and did not join Accor plus, i'd recalled reading some people with families not being able to make good use of the free night which wouldn't work for me.

i sometimes eat at the hotel but most times would be looking at outside options generally as it's much cheaper and greater variety.

I have 2 x complimentary free nights expiring end of November and I can't seem to find a place or make time to use it.
I tried emailing their customer service team to see if they can extend the expiry date until 31st December since I am traveling in Christmas but they wont.

Not even a "home city stay"? Just for the fun of it if you are going to lose the night otherwise.
I go over to Melbourne three or four times a year to visit my mother (93 next month), so I will always use my free night. Wish had more! Being a solo traveler, I will also sometimes have dinner in the hotel restaurant at night if there are not eateries near by. Plus the discount is often worth it.

'Has anyone actually been upgraded to ACCOR LL Gold yet?'

Just wondering…. I haven’t, and I was waiting to book something until that happened.

Last week I contact ALL to see if the upgrade to Gold could be expedited as I wanted to make a booking. I received a terse reply that it will be 4 weeks after the end of the promotion.

I booked with Hilton instead thanks to the Virgin Gold program.

What's the benefit of waiting until you receive gold to book? I thought the benefits are realised at check in unless you are after the guaranteed room?
