Just a quickie, are airline staff supposed to wear gloves when preparing your food on a plate? I noticed a Virgin attendant arranging cheese on a plate without? Was a little disturbed by it.

Madam - your mother has been preparing food for you for a gazillion years without gloves! How're you doing so far?
Yes but mum always washes her hands before touching any food items....and while we have a busy home, not sure we have as many different people from a diverse range of places touching all of surfaces a crew member touches on an aircraft...🤪

That looks tasty. I am supposed to be arranging Christmas this year in Canberra, and all the caterers are overloaded (always subbie the jobs out), so I may end up doing something like this - I would appreciate some pointers, dear AP!

Given you're lack of time, you'd either have to do smaller hams, or buy pre-smoked and just do a cook and glaze on xmas morning. The 2kg ones i'm doing will need approx 7-8 days to brine, plus a night to dry out in the fridge before smoking on Saturday.

It could definitely be done if you're 100% on doing it yourself (I actually watched a video of individual hams (aka pork loin steaks cured), but you'd want to have them in the brine by tomorrow.

We are having the traditional seafood at son's and his family
Usually there is about 15 people plus at their Xmas lunch from daughter in law's side however one of her aunts has had a very unexpected traumatic medical episode involving long term hospital back in October. So for this year it will just be son, his wife , my husband and myself and their two young children. A rather sedate one.

At my local, just saw these. Not sure if any shops in the eastern states would have them. Pretty sure Drake's is only SA.

I saw someone do a ham in their slow cooker and then finish off in the oven for colour and it looked amazing... thought of doing it myself but we'll be Christmas lunch'ing at Cradle Mountain this year

What an enlightened decision, Denali - I have well noted your choice. I hope its a great day!
