Carlson Wagonlit Travel ITN tool was very good but no longer functions. Are there any other tools that provide similar functionality to CWT accessing OneWorld class availability statistics that do not require a monthly/yearly subscription?

ExpertFlyer and KVS are alternatives but both require subscription.

I agree, money well spent. Penny wise, pound foolish as dear old grandpa would say.

Hi John,

There is a free alternative - check flyertalk and you should find it (if not, feel free to PM me).

I got the premium expertflyer for A$12ish a month. Just for the convenience of checking availability prior to calling my TA to book. A combination of that and and the ITA website are great tools for trip planning for me. Mind you my routes are not that complex :)

I guess the complexity in my travel is the changeability of it. One minute I am off to Tokyo for 5 days then the plans change and its Tokyo 2 days and HKG 3 days. That's why I need tools to help me...

My trips are booked at least 2 months in advance. I have already purchased a ticket to return to SE Asia in April and when I return from this trip, early January, I will be purchasing the next ticket for travel to SE Asia in July or December.

Maybe 3 trips a year to SE Asia is regular travel but I don't think I can justify spending >$100/year for 6-12 queries on class availability. I can almost achieve the same results by calling QF bookings.

Thanks Rob. The first one and the third one look OK. Right or wrong they provided the same results!

For my test case (route where I know there has been change of airline and timing on a particular date), the first and second gave consistent results. The third (seatcounter) gives incorrect results (wrong airline and timing).

So which do we believe?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Up to you!

I looked at availability for QF71 PER-SIN on 27 Dec 06 and QF78 SIN-PER on 10 Jan 07 and the 1st and 3rd options provided exactly the same results.

I actually found the second one to be more consistent for me on point to point but for some reason go funny in multi-cities mode.
Oh I als noticed that you need to narrow down the times eg. morning to get a better showing of flights and availability.

Actually, ExpertFlyer will tell you how many award seats are available (if less than 9) as it displays the Z, U, T & X buckets on QF.

I know you can do this in round about ways using the online award booking engine (varying no of seats being requested) or calling , but this can be tedious.

One simply query has shown me that almost all flights SYD-MEL on 29,30,31 December are showing T9 X9; so wide open for redemption.

In my case the first two gave correct results and the third was wrong. But I would not use majority rules since it doesn't matter if two tools are showing the same result if they are both wrong they are wrong.

sertfy, i learned something else on this board, thank you. :D but by looking at experflyer it shows for a flight I may be interested in as award with x1, what does this mean? the connecting flight shows x0, what does this mean? these flights are sept. 07.
