Flight Centre Compensation Question

I am afraid I cannot say too much good about FC either. They recently sold a ticket to a young family friend at a travel fair, stating it was the lowest fare etc etc. Little did she know that firstly the fare was the same price as advertised by the airline, and while the airline charges a change fee of $125, FC charged $600. A case of live and learn, but they lost a lot of potential business after using practices like that.
 
Sorry to hear about your problems with any travel agency at such a time as a funeral James.

I will not use FC either . Several reasons from outright lies and ridiculous excuses to the last one a few years ago when booking an Emirates flight and reading the small print about a change of dates would incur a $ 400.00 charge. I am a frequent flyer (silver at that time) and Emirates always gave me a free change of dates. I now only book thru Emirates direct and have found nobody has been able to offer a better deal.

FC , incidentally have a couple of other agencies such as Student Travel . They have never been able to give me a competitive deal so i have never used them so i wonder if their service is similar.
 
Fiscal, Almost all travel agents will have fees in addition to the airline on changes, as they have to do more work. That said that FC example seems excessive.

I asked for them to escalate.... they wont. I also asked for Graham Turner's email & telephone. That was also ignored.

They basically said nobody else is going to look at this and this is the end of the matter. You can have a $200 voucher for FC (don't understand as I said I wouldn't want to knowingly use them again) and $50 that they charged in commission to change.

What a lovely helpful company to deal with. If only everyone was like that.......

I don't think you're alone there; Flight Centre is like the McDonalds of the food industry.

I don't think McDonalds stoops as low as Flight Centre. At least at Maccas you know what to expect and get what you pay for, without hidden fees and charges. But then again, there is a similarity between Ronald McDonald and Scroo (ge) Turner.
