PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

It's now showing F2 A2 J1. Still no change in EF seat maps.

Here's hoping but not looking as good as yesterday

Got the SMS at 0115 confirming the upgrade :D (40 hours prior to flight departure)
EF seat alerts for our old seats come through at 0148 and is now showing F2 A2 J3 C2 D1.

Something else of note is that the there is now a 'customise your journey' tab

This appears on my SYD-SIN, SIN-LHR and LHR-SYD bookings although it comes up as ineligible of the first two sectors as they are in March and do not go through Dubai. For the LHR-SYD sector it allows me to book chauffeur drive but the Dubai connect is ineligible for obvious reasons

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

New PJ's for me :D
Confirmed at T24 with Text from Qantas Upgrade Fairy, interestingly my EF seat alert email arrived later.
Trying out 3K

Hi Princess

Congrats on your upgrade. Can you please ensure that you take good care of my seat for me:D. I personally find 3K the best seat in the house:D

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

What's "wrong" with 3A?

Left handed vs Right-handed issue ?

I now prefer K as I'm right handed.

Nothing I guess but I find 3K much quieter and definitely more private. Try sitting in say 3F and look at what you can see of the A side V the K side.

I have also observed that when FA's travel up and down the aircraft they tend to use the A side over the K side.

BUT Please do not get me wrong I would never swap an A or an F seat for a J seat :D or worse a Y seat

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Howdy everyone!

Would anyone care to comment on what the below might indicate in terms of my chances for a J to F upgrade for two pax.

A PS (me) & NB.

QF93 - 28/03/13

From my short time understanding these numbers/expert flyer, it looks like PE is very full and business is filling up. First - quite a few seats? But not sure how many seats are normally open this far out?

Any advice would he helpful, thanks so much

First:8 (at least)Business:9 (at least)Coach:9 (at least)Other:n/a
Fare Classes:F/8 A/6 P/0J/9 C/9 D/9 I/1 U/0W/1 R/0 T/0 Z/0 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/3 M/0 L/0 V/0 S/0 N/0 Q/0 O/0 G/0 X/0 E/0

I would say they are overselling Y at the expense of PE fare buckets, reasonable chances of an upgrade.

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Hmm ... still more than seven days out ... are there other flights on that route that day?

When I look at expert flyer today ,there have been no changes to F seat map.. Still wide open.. I thought that F all got allocated seats if confirmed?

I have never flown on an A380 so QF93 is a must for me...

Not looking good then huh... :(

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Can someone be kind to look up the loading for the following flight on 26th March ?
QF 9 MEL - SIN
QF29 MEL - HKG

Thanks.

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

Sign up to flightstats and you can do it yourself, but for these, both are very decent op-up chances.

Qantas 9 MEL-SIN F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I7 W9 R6 T1 Y5 B2 H1K0 M0 L0 G0 E0
Qantas 29 MEL-HKG J9 C9 D9 I9 Y2 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

Re: QF Op Up Chances?

where on flight stats do you get the info? i signed up and all it gives me are prices, on time performance etc. I can find the loadings anywhere.

The instructions are in post 1 ... click the
line-item-carrot.png
's to see fare buckets.

In any case, op up chances seem remote:
J/9 C/9 D/9 I/9 Y/9 B/9 H/9 K/9 M/9 L/9 V/9 S/9 N/2 Q/9 O/9 G/4 E/0

One of the problems may be that the instruction in post #1 appear to refer to a previous iteration of Flightstats (don't need to sign up anymore to get this info).

Go to www.flightstats.com. Under the Flights menu, select flight availability, which should take you here: FlightStats | Flight Airline Seat Availability

Enter the route/date info, the press the 'Search Flight Availability' tab. On the resulting table, there is a column called 'Seats'. For further details on a flight, click on the row that represents the flight, and further details will open up.
