PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

This is the seat map for the outbound leg (X=blocked, Blue=selected, Blank=available to select)

If I may kindly ask - and thanks again already for all your help - are you able to also scan whether there is any capacity remaining in Premium Economy - please - on that same outbound QF?

Looking at the fare availability already posted, there is only 1 seat for sale in the highest Y+ fare bucket. Upgrade chances would be close to zero.

Upgrade chances would be close to zero.
Not necessarily (although less likely with W1) - some in W could be upgraded to J, freeing up space there.

IIRC, the Upgrade processing goes (on a three class 789)

a. W/Y->J
  1. CL
  2. P1
  3. WP
  4. SG
  5. PS
  6. others
b. Y->W
  1. CL
  2. P1
  3. WP
  4. SG
  5. PS
  6. others
Upgrades to Business in a. may free up W space for b.

Never seen this before. Does this mean the First cabin is full on this flight?

Does this mean the First cabin is full on this flight?
It means Qantas has blocked set map queries for this cabin and flight. It does happen reasonably often with this flight and more often when the flight is getting full.

In this case it appears to be so.

Bear in mind that upgrades start quite early for some Pax and once that process gets well under way I have found that the F section often is blocked, and sometimes J.

Looks real good

Well to close the loop. At T-28 hours, no upgrade. I don't think it's going to happen.

A day after the load above was provided I found out there were actually 11 J seats still available and 27 commercial upgrade requests

I guess being a WP in a pretty cheap Y ticket put me fairly far back in the upgrade lottery queue. Also, only booking and entering that queue 5 weeks before departure wouldn't have done me any favours. On the plus side, I think I should have a free seat next to me in whY. That makes a big difference.

Interestingly still shows 2 J for sale and a few W

I suspect there might still be a few more upgrades to process. I'm guessing based on that several Y+ pax successfully upgrade to J.

Hello, Can some one help me check possibility of an upgrade?
QF 68 - BLR to SYD, date 22nd Jan, 2023
I am platinum member and hoping to get upgrade with points. I have put the request when i booked my flights which was ~2 weeks ago.
Thanks in advance

So about 50 minutes prior to boarding, sitting in the F lounge, I happened to check the QF app and noticed my boarding pass had changed to J. Hooruh! No actually notification. I guess I would have just got beeped at the gate with my old paper pass.

That will make the next 14hrs a bit more comfortable.
