PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

May not be too promising, but the seat map on EF shows:

J = 7 Blocked, 3 vacant (3 blocked look a bit like "WP shadows")
W = 8 Blocked (all front row bulkhead seats), 3 vacant

Its always a lottery, you just never know.

Thanks OATEK. Will see how I go - fingers crossed!

Hoping someone can give me a rundown please on possibility of an op-up on CX138 SYD-HKG Monday 1 Sep, currently travelling in PE (32AC)?

Also, can other OW airlines 'see' my OWE status when I log into their seat selection page, (having declared my QFFF #) and offer a better selection of seats, or do I only get this option on QF, where my QF/OW status is known.

The flight looks kind of full in all cabins : J2 C0 D0 I0 W4 R3 E0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0
Yes, other OW airlines can see your status. As a WP you can select almost any seat directly on CX website, but for some seats you have to call (exit row and some bassinet seats). In your case you could call CX and ask for seat 30A or 30C (more legroom), but these are bassinet seats.

As for up-op...you can never predict an up-op!;)

Thanx for this. So the sitrep is (if I am reading it correctly), at least 9 seats left in Y, 7 in PE, and only 2 in J?

Y9 when all other economy buckets are zeroed can also mean that CX is ready to fill PE and J cabin with Y fares (via op-up). W4 means at least 4 seats in PE (loadings are not coughulative in a given cabin).

Ok, will call CX and see if 30AC are available although they are shown as n/a in the seat selection page, but they may be holding in case of a late booking px requiring bassinet.

30A/C not yet allocated according to Expert Flyer.

The seat maps show 15 unallocated in J, and 11 unalloc in W.

I just don't get how these seat numbers work. JohnK, how do you arrive at 4 seats left and in what class?

W4 means 4 full fare PE seats. R3 might mean 3 discounted PE seats or that they are prepared to oversell PE with a view to giving out a couple of op-ups to J.

Just a guess the are 4 premium economy seats and they are prepared to sell them for full economy.

On other flights at times we have noted there may only be a few premium seats left and the airline is prepared to sell them at discount economy prices to get anything for the seat and op-up people with status into the premium cabins.

Although with only J2, I would suspect that even if they are willing to oversell Y+, it would only be 2 tickets. And given that it's currently W4, I suspect that there are at least 2 empty seats in Y+ unless they're going to take a gamble on possibly offloading some pax - possible depending on the loads on the other flights on the same day.

I'm trying to get an AA award flight in U class for 2015-07-18 for MEL-AMS. When I check on expertflyer, the majority of flights don't even show U at all, not even U0.

I checked on QFF and can see a MEL-HKG-AMS business award, which I guess would be in U. I did call up the AA desk and they couldn't see anything at all. What's up with no U being displayed that far out?

I bought a 2 month subscription to KVS, found the above flights, called AA, they can't see the QF leg as available but the CX is open.

Guess I will try again tomorrow.

Starting to wonder whether my flight QF878 (B737-800) CBR-SYD 01 Sep will be cancelled. Of the 26 Y rows (156 seats) I can see at my seat selection page, rows 4 and 5 are blocked and only 6 other seats are u/a. Not a high load factor.

I don't want this flight to be cancelled, as it will affect my time in the Flounge.
