Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:


If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

F9/A6 a week before the flight is pretty much as good as you can get! Just hope there's not 9 CL and WP-1 ahead of you in the queue!

Hmmm... looks like there were a few. This is the loading today:

Hope we do get it. School holidays probably doesn't help.

My QF11 flight is within the 48 hour window now... QF showing F4 but AA is showing F7. Did a dummy booking on AA.com for the flight and can get max number allowed in their booking system (six pax).

Haven't received text as of yet and no points deducted. Whose numbers should I believe? Upgrade for two with WP still looking OK?

9th October LAX/MEL on QF 94.
I'm booked in T class (part of my nested USA trips) so was super cheap.

At 12 days out flightstats says this:
F/9 A/9J/0 C/0 D/0 I/0W/0 R/0 T/0 Y/0 B/0 H/0 K/0 M/0 L/0 V/0 S/0 N/0 Q/0 O/0

I've got a points upgrade request into J. as a WP1 ive been really lucky getting upgrades to come through, but from memory ive never flown on an oversold flight like this before.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts and theories.

The two days before have identical availability, the 2 days after don't even have F! (looks like all flights on all carries back from the USA are really full - end of school holidays?)
 
It could very well be they have oversold economy looking to proactively upgrade foward.

Those 9 F seats may very well go to upgraded PAX.

Of course, this is just conjecture.

QF1 departs Sydney in the afternoon and on the 4th it doesn't look too great:

You never know, but as SG i'm not sure. Good luck though!!
