PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Interestingly enough, some observations I had when I was selecting seats on QF581 14Sep...

When I initially selected 57J, 57K was not blocked. Selecting any other seat however, causes the adjacent seat to be blocked (yes, including the aisle seats beside the window seats). Does anyone know what the rule / algorithm is with regard to this?

I presume that the loads on this flight are not too heavy (even though availability seems to indicate otherwise - N9 Q7 O0 E0 X0)...

Qf 93 - 12/9

looking quite full now, the challenge will be to get a spare seat blocked next to me in Y one thinks. As this is a self-funded trip it is a Y affair!!!

Cheers

Are you WP?

Are you WP?

Nope, only a lowly PS...

Selecting 57K does block 57J however. I rang QF up to ask about a coat closet onboard, to be told that the flight is "fairly full, but not completely so".

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Qantas.com/yourbooking seat selection will show the 4B seat as available to you. Another WP would see it as unavailable. straitman and I tested this out back in February when we were on the same flight.
Only one flight left for the night on Friday and interesting observation. There were 4 people in the BNE Business Lounge and one of these was a business class customer. The other 2 were economy class passengers sitting behind row 4.

My shadow put on weight and I had 4ABC all to myself.

Upgrade chances QF31 Syd-Sin 16/9/10 A380

Hi

I'm a recent subscriber to Expert Flyer, however looking at flight availability / available classes I can't work out if a points upgrade from economy to business for 2 seats is a possibility for this coming thursdays flight on A380

Business availabity currently shows: J4 C4 D0 and I know you have to take into account seat availability in First F1 A1 , Premium Economy W0 R0 T0 and Econ seats B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 E0

Anybody have any news on what is the likelyhood of an upgrade for 2 tickets. I'm Gold status and my booking is in economy 'V' class

Also, Experflyer's seat map for J shows: 5 seats available and 11 seats blocked, so the availabily of J4, C4 DO confuses me as that is alot less than seat map availabiliy shows.

Not sure what class my ticket was booked in as I've read that also makes a difference (and not sure where to find that out as it's not stated on E-ticket) however I do know it was a class that was upgradeable.

You can see it by viewing your booking on qantas.com.

It looks like this (for a flight booked in D).

As for the flight, here's hoping that Y is just oversold and they plan on upgrading more pax :)

Thanks, I've now edited orignal post with my current travel class (v)

Re: Upgrade chances QF31 Syd-Sin 16/9/10 A380

I suppose with 8 seats avail today in J (from what I can understand on Expertflyer) I may have a chance as from what I can see Y is oversold.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Good luck with your upgrade request for today kazda

I'm on QF31 next week 23/9 with loadings per EF as A2 F2 J9 C8 Y9 B9 and so on.

I'm travelling in D but requested a points upg to F; seat maps have 5 available seats incl. accessible seat. I'm not expecting much chance as a SG.

I know at least one WP is ahead of you though - a WP colleague of mine is also on that flight in D with an upgrade to F pending.

There could have been two - but I decided not to go on that trip :)

Thanks  Also my girlfriend -also SG - has a D to F request in place, and she applied for it a few minutes before I did, so now there's at least 2 in front of me.

re: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

I am completely new to this forum and am amazed the information that is provided. Need seat availability Hon to Sydney 9th October Jetstar JQ4. Decided to go at last minute and was lucky to get FF seats out of Sydney. Unfortunately had to pay for a Jetflex far back, very expensive. Spoke to Jetstar and no SC available. Sc would be the same price as we have had to pay for Jetflex. Are all seats booked in SC.
Thanks

Hi Bella1,

Yes, you're correct - there appears to be a few seats available in JetFlex but nothing in StarClass and nothing in the lower fare classes. The JetFlex options still look to be the cheapest direct flights with availability.

Air Pacific does have a cheaper option available for departure on the 9th, but you'd need to spend at least one night in Nadi before connecting onto Sydney.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

QF15: J8 C7 D6 I0 W5 R5 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L2 V9 S9 N1 G0 E0.
J, W seatmap
Y seatmap

QF16: J9 C9 D3 I2 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N4 G0 E0
J, W seatmap
Y seatmap

(I'd be pretty happy with PE on those flights - J seating).

Those numbers were about 6 days out from the flight.

By way of feedback, QF15 was chockers and I remained in Y+ (two empty seats in Y+ cabin). As noted J seat anyway (which I new when I booked).

Return leg was Op-up from Y+ to J (as a newly minted Gold FF).

QF 10 waitlist

I'm a SG, trying to get on QF10 LHR - MEL on Sep 24. It's completely sold out.

Just wondering if someone with the software e.g. expert flyer etc.. could let me know of my chances of getting a confirmed seat.

QF 10 is A380 and also i have fully flexible ticket and i am not sure if that will make any difference.

GoTheCats,

What class are you in? I am assuming economy.
