PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Just requested an upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy on QF7 to DFW on 3 April. Any idea what my chances will be - am wondering whether I should pay the $25 to reserve a seat. Also site won't give me access to the whole of the economy section of the plane for booking. Thanks for any help.
Both economy and premium economy are heavily booked on QF7 on 3 April. I would suggest you to take what you can for now.

Economy possibly full and Qantas prepared to sell remaining business class seats at any price? Upgrade chances good?

qf128 j9 c9 d9 i9 w9 r9 t8 y9 b9 h9 k9 m9 l9 v9 s9 n9 q9 g0 e0
Would appear to be light load so anything could happen in next 2 weeks. Upgrade chances excellent?

Light load in economy. Not sure whether to stump up for seat selection or wait until OLCI!

If it's an upgrade to J, then there's a reasonable chance. However, if J was full, they would be offering Y+ for sale as well.

Looking that way for QF128, at least.

What's available at the moment? While there are plenty of seats, it's possible that most aisle ones and the aisle/window combinations are gone by the time OLCI is available.

Ah. I didn't think of that. So good chance of upgrade. Shame can't find out until ~5 hours before flight.

I haven't checked. I should really look.

Hello,

I am wanting to upgrade VA 8 (LAX-BNE) at 11:50PM 29-03-2014 from Flexi to Business using points, are you able to tell me the chances on this? currently it is not available but they keep saying to check. How often should I check, and should I really bother?

I'm not familiar with VA's upgrade process, but it looks like there are quite a few seats free at the moment.

I have a TG booking in Business (J booking class) on Fri 3 and Mon 5 April. Free changes so long as there is J availability. Can anyone search to see which flights on those days have the availability?

Re: Seat Load on QF51 Sin-Bri 21st Feb 2015

"Your points upgrade to Business on QF0127 from SYD to HKG departing 29MAR at 10:45 as been confirmed. Enjo your flight!" That notification is 4 minutes short of 60 hours before departure. I thought you found out ~5 hours before departure. Now to try and get a First Class seat if they haven't already been allocated.

I had a look and the only seats allocated are in the first 6-7 rows. The rest of the cabin is empty.

Points upgrades to J very rarely occur at T-5 IME. I've had several upgrades confirmed including to and from HKG and LHR at T-60, some even longer than that.

If you ring up the premium desk they should be able to sort out a decent seat for you, although it's rare that you can't see all of the seats this far out on MMB.

Are you generally able to see the seats in the First class cabin when First class is not sold on a flight? Business class is quite full. Only a few seats unallocated. I was allocated 21J as per my profile and I moved myself to 21K. I will call Qantas in a couple of hours.

Re: Seat Load on QF51 Sin-Bri 21st Feb 2015

Did you select "Lower Deck" (as distinct from "Upper Deck") on the Qantas.com manage your booking seat selection page?

Experflyer shows this: (5A is the only unallocated seat in the First section)

I cannot do anything with seats on Lower Deck. It's like it's blocked.

I got sms while I was out last night. Thought about calling at 2:00am but didn't call. I will call in a few minutes when I'm in the office.

It would be nice to sit in first but no great loss.

In my experience, it's not a bad time to call. There's generally very little wait time, and the staff have been extremely helpful. It is the SIN re-direct number, however, so not sure if it makes any differences.

In hindsight I should have called last night. Called 10 minutes ago and as I went into my booking 5A became available. ;)
