First Qantas A220 revealed

Does the A220 have overhead information screens though? Like this ⬇️
That's cool, is that on an A220? Never seen anything like that before.

I'd be surprised if QF even put streaming into this thing, if it's meant to be a domestic 717 replacement I think wi-fi will probably be sufficient for most of the flying.

Yes, those overhead information screens are present on many, if not all of the non-IFE A220 cabins (AirBaltic, SWISS etc.):

However on A220s with seatback screens (Air Canada, JetBlue), the overhead screens aren’t present:

They are not on Air France's and they don't have seatback IFE. I would gather it is an airlines option to have them or not.

So what’s the cabin like? Was there any indication on what Y and J inside this aircraft is like? Amazed a photo has not surfaced yet.
I'm surprised it is being held under wraps so tightly when on the surface there doesn't seem to be anything too radical with the interior or the seats to keep it under wraps for so long.

I thought they’d already confirmed free inflight WIFI for all the A220 fleet as the IFE provision?

As long as it remains as fast as it is now to stream video content I agree that’s sufficient in this day and age.

I do feel a little sorry for the older generation who may not have or able to use a smart device to access. But almost all airlines are heading that way clearly of providing either nothing at all or just wifi/sometimes streaming.

I hope it also remains free!

Rumour is seat issues. Seats have not been approved and other issues found.

Does the fact that the aircraft has arrived in Australia mean that the airline has "accepted/taken possession of " the aircraft as good to go, or would it be conditional, or not yet "accepted" at all?

Not heard that one before and even if true it still doesn’t really explain why unlike other “new” aircraft such the the sunrise A350’s the seats and cabin features have not been revealed either in render or in pics. Even if it were regulatory still no reason to not show pics.

I have seen reports on Airliners.net that the seat materials are subject to 'flammability' concerns. Something about the mix of materials causing concerns and that the Canadian regulator would not approve them for us in Canada.

Do you know who is manufacturing the seats for Qantas on the A220? Surely it’s not a unique seat exclusive to Qantas

Someone mentioned it was a Recaro modification. I assume it’s the fabric/materials they have used.

Obviously not leather.

Yeah it has the wi-fi hump and I mentioned wi-fi. Whether it has Qstreaming is where I was like ???. Personally I never use Qstreaming. Wi-fi is fine for me. Even on a long-haul I usually browse the internet and not touch the IFE at all these days.

I went to check that post and it looks like one person repeating a rumour they heard from a pilot. I wouldn't think that a rumour worth spreading tbh...

- Qantas A220 economy to be very similar to A350 economy seats

- Qantas A220 confirmed to have fast-free Wi-Fi available to every passenger

- Confirmed that A220 will not have seatback screens, unclear whether Qantas have chose the option from Airbus to have overhead screens like these ⬇️
