Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

OK.. not a flight... but I was priveleged to go to the Olympians reception this morning in Brisbane at Parliament House and got my photo taken with Stephanie Rice.... now there is a good lookin woman!

There was all the other Olympians there, John Coates and plenty of QLD media identities.

I was travelling on QF429 on Sunday, seated in row 4 of a 73H.

One row in front - in J - was Phil Gould and Matthew Johns.

I was going to say hello except I'm probably not in the league (no pun intended) of footy fans to strike up a good hook/conversation.:(:-|

Heard a page for Mr Anthony Albanese to contact the service desk in the SYD business lounge 2 weeks ago. There was a flight or 2 cancelled to CBR so he may have been waiting to get on another flight.

On Sunday Brett Lee was in line in front of me at the business class check in. Not as tall as he appears on the cricket coverage. He had 2 cricket kit bags, must take batting very seriously. Then when I boarded the flight to BNE he was sitting in 2J and I was in 4D. Walked out of the aircraft almost together and I was going to wish him well for the coming summer but he was on the mobile phone and I did not want to disturb him.

Saw Mr Lee a few years ago - OMG time 5:00am in MEL (I was checking in for International flight connecting out of SYD). There had been a one-dayer in MEL the previous evening.

Agree that he is surprising slight in stature ...

I was amazed to be standing behind Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch (plus their two boys) in the Jetstar check-in counter at HTI two weeks ago. Made me feel not so bad about having to fly JQ.

Remember they have taken a bigger hit in the current financial mayhem than most of our combined assets.

You have to feel really sorry for them

Eamon Sullivan in the Perth Qantas Club now.

Kim Beazley on QF583 Sydney to Perth Friday 14 November.

Malcolm Fraser on the 1pm Melbourne to Sydney Friday 7 November.

Hi from newbie. Have been lurking around here for a while so thought it was time I joined...

About 5 years ago I was in the old BA FIRST lounge at LHR T4. I was actually the only person in the smoking room(those were the days...) when in walks this incredibly attractive woman. She caught me looking at her and gave me a rather demure smile. Took me about another 5 sec to realise she was Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Not a shabby lady either - welcome to AFF, Panord.

Was at the Breakfast Creek Hotel yesterday with some members from this fine website and saw Trevor "The Axe" Gilmeister drinking at the next table. Always has a scowl on his face, so wasn't willing to chance going up to him to say "g'day" - being a Queenslander :D

I was on a Hawaiin Air flight a few years ago out of Maui which was unexplicably delayed. Then in through the forward doors walked Aerosmith and we promptly took off. They apologised to everyone in the first few rows which was rather nice

Mr Albanese's on my blacklist. If he calls for a cab at a Canberra restaurant and it arrives two minutes later, he really should have been there.

Last year, I sat next to Kate Cerebano on QF108 JFK-SYD. I had the window seat.

Was at BNE last Sunday morning for a flight to HKG, and the winning New Zealand RL World Cup team were in the security queue behind us. The guy right behind us was carrying the (mildly unimpressive) glass trophy.

I didn't realise what it was at first, just looked like he was taking a present home for his mum.

You would think wouldn't you

Did you talk to Kate at all ? she seems like a rather interesting person.

I'm too shy. We smiled politely at each other, and I stuck my head out the window, read a book about baseball and watched movies and slept. Nice flight.

A couple of recent encounters, on Thursday night flew back from SIN on SQ 237, and noticed Shane Warne in immigration, but didn't know he was on my flight - as I was upstairs, I assume he must have turned left when he boarded, as he seemed to get to immigration fairly quickly - no other flights in hall at the time. (And again I noticed going thru customs he was being interviewed and there were about 7-8 TV cameras there - talking about his lucky turn of events that meant he wasn't staying at the Taj Mumbai).

Also a few weeks back on QF9 to SIN, I was sitting next to former AFL player Stephen Kernahan - although I didn't work that out until a few hours after the flight (doesn't it bug you when someone looks familiar but you can't work out who?). Not that I'm likely to be starstruck by a former Carlton player, now if it had have been Leigh Matthews, Shane Crawford, Dipper or Luke Hodge .....

A week or two after Ansett went belly up I saw Dipper in the MEL QP - he appeared to be joining up to the QC. (Ansett had the all AFL travel cornered back then.)

Later on he was on my flight to ADL.
