Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Interesting.

Domestically all VA staff are expected to fly Y on staff travel, and also on positioning flights... unlike QF where J cabins are often full of uniformed staff (QF and JQ).

Perhaps this rule doesn't apply internationally?

For info, there were at least a couple of VA staff in J too, I didn't recognise them but they had VA branded cabin bags.

Just sat down in my Exit Row seat 34J on QF 556 SYD/BNE and Bill O'Chee (former Senator from Cairns) wanders past. He won't remember me from Young Nat Days but appreciated being recognised.

The Super-man of politics

"The age restriction was introduced after Queensland senator Bill O'Chee left politics in his early 30s in 1999, after nine years in federal parliament, with an estimated $1.4 million payout."

Over the years, flown with: -
Gretel Killeen - Original Big Brother presenter. Boy, did she have white teeth. Dazzling.
Layne Beachley - Surfer extraordinaire. I gave up my business class seat to my dad, who sat next to her. Had no idea who she was. Had a good chat regardless.
Angela Rippon - British news presenter, game show host etc. Sat behind me and took the mickey out of the flight attendant's elocution. Mortified at the end of the flight, when her pint sized PA had to help me open the overhead bin.
Graham Turner - Of Flight Centre fame. Scruffiest bloke in business class, and probably the most loaded.

He lives in Nundah now.

She may get a chance to go to the US sometime after 2024 or maybe 2027. As a convicted drug offender she is out on parole so she should not be going anywhere without her papers.

Interesting, must just be a domestic thing then... clearly symbolic ;)

I believe she's on parole until 2017 or so, meaning she's confined to Bali. No lounge sightings for quite some time methinks.

She's allowed to travel anywhere in Indonesia. Might just cancel our trip to Lombok now.

It is good (for her) that she is out of prison, but I really do not see the public fascination with her story. She will soon be a millionaire (if not already), so should be able to afford a nice villa in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia to live out her parole.

At least the publicity should serve as a warning to others not to get mixed up in drugs in Indonesia (or any other jurisdiction for that matter).

*cough*points upgrade*cough*

Maybe, maybe not... It's a 40 minute flight, so not the most effective use of points, especially when the load is light.

Of course on single class aircraft is it rather difficult to upgrade :p
