'Enhanced' QF status credit calculator

Anyone wanna write a script to compare QF distances to IATA TPM? :)

Suspect all the Bangkok, KL entries are wrong. Just that pair crosses the 750mi barrier which makes a big difference.

I think someone had previously worked out that they were likely still using the DMK-SZB distance (gcmap lists as 744mi)

Its also now impossible to play what if, with the new calculator.
Or to count QFpoints and QF SC earnings with partners, to get to and from out of the way places that QF does not fly to and from on its own.
FJ (that's QF partner) flies its own aircraft from NAD to NRT, yes, 2 days a week, I am sure in the past iteration of the calculator, we could have been able to calculate the QFpoints and QF SC earnings, of something.
Now also can't pick the name of the airline partner either.
Probably will be impossible to find the Alpha code of class of travel now either.

Why do they let the work experience kids loose unsupervised at this time of the year?:mad::mad:

What a load of cr@p.

I hit the link that I had bookmarked and it redirected to the enhanced calculator. I dummy in a sector and where it says 'for a personalised experience login' I hit that link . Five minutes later the wheels are still spinning and I'm not logged in.:mad:

I buy a DONEx every year and with the previous multi-sector tool I could (generally) easily total up my SC and points earn easily. When I say 'generally', it often broke at a sector that was not in the QF database , making it necessary to do the whole itinerary in two or three chunks and manually working out the missing sector(s). Now it's one-by-one. Nuts - just nuts. These people just have no idea about delivering a usable and useful experience.:mad::mad:

yes, its awful. I left scathing feedback on their website feedback form. The multiple leg functionality was great. A stupid decision to get rid of it.

It's possible to scrape the API though and put it into a Google Sheet and do your multiple legs that way. Better than having to do it one at a time now.

I've just done it and you get a lot of information. I'd change all the headers to only pull in the columns needed.

There are a lot more columns than whats shown in this screenshot.

Agreed 1,000%. Whatever was the person who designed this been taking? I will especially miss the ability to string flights together into an itinerary.

AisleSeat, for the benefiit of the technically illiterate like myself, could you be kind enough to explain please what scraping the API" is and how to do it? Thanks so much!

So, QF has an API with a bunch of different endpoints, which are in JSON format, and used to display specific data. @sbor90 has helpfully listed those in post #4.

These endpoints are publicly accessible, which means we can import all this data into a spreadsheet, and it'll display nicely in columns. This kind of action isn't illegal, but will be frowned on by QF.

When the new QF flight schedule calculator came in I did the same thing: Qantas timetable no longer in pdf and a couple of people asked for instructions, so I'll DM you what I sent them. It's exactly the same set up in Google Sheets, you'll just be using a different URL to import the data.

Thank you!

I liked the previous one because in my attempts to avoid flying QF on my DONExs these days it enabled me to check that I wasn't running too shy on SCs in focussing on QR and the like. ;):p

I think you're on to something. Snap here, but with Cathay Pacific on Asian routes. Rather than try to compete on product/value, Qantas just try to make it harder for you. Typical Alan Joyce.

They never fix something that is broken though.

No. Qantas are muchj more adept at taking something that works and breaking it.

So it's more-or-less possible to replicate functionality of the old multi-leg SC calculator using Google Sheets with the API exposed by the new calculator.

For reasons mentioned above by @AisleSeat I won't make this public but happy to share tips via PM if anyone wants to make their own.

Wow, this is way better than my simple approach. 👏

@sbor90 would love a PM with instructions.

I just used the new calculator to check points required for an upgrade SYD-HNL had to laugh when it gavce point for upgrade Y to PE, when no Qnatas flight to HNL have PE (just Y and J). MInd you at just under 10 hours Im at a loss as to why QF dont use an aircraft with PE on that route, given they use then on shorter routes like SYD-HKG.

So assuming my calcs using the 'enhanced' calculator are correct, for the following return trip in Business the earnings would be...

Route / Miles Earned / SC Earned

QFF (Bronze)
DPS-DOH 4250 / 100
DOH-LHR 4250 / 100
LGW-DOH 4250 / 100
DOH-DPS 4250 / 100
End result: Earn Silver (OWR) and a few measly points (17000).

BA Exec Club (Blue)
DPS-DOH 6123 / 140
DOH-LHR 4066 / 140
LGW-DOH 4048 / 140
DOH-DPS 6123 / 140
End result: Earn Silver* (OWS) and a handful of miles that could be useful when in Europe due to RFS that BAEC offers (20360).

Seems like it would be better for them to credit to BAEC as my folks would then be doing the 4 legs on BA while over here and come out with OWS status and some BA miles to boot, which they can use for RFS flights here in the future.

*Silver on BAEC would be earned as a result of the additional flights being completed once on the ground in LON.

So bizarre to take such a backward step. Annoying when going to select business calls you cannot use the scrollbar on the drop down, have to up/down arrow.
