Don't treat this with any sort of credibility, but according to EF, EK434 has 1 in F, 24 booked in J and Y is wide open (doesn't look even a third full). But there could be a lot of unassigned seats - check on EF at T-24 to get a more accurate view.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on...

We were caught up in a humungous traffic jam on the M1 from Gold coast to BNE. It took 1.5hrs to travel from Beenleigh to BNE. I was the last to check in, made the cut off by 10 min. I did ask about an upgrade but was politely declined due to the late hour.
As noted Y was only about 1/3 full. The centre seating in the last section was totally empty.
The flight was very relaxing, enjoyed the food and the service was right up there for Y.

Does anyone have any experience with First on EK's 773 (non-suites)? How do they compare to the suites?

What route are you flying? There aren't too many 777's running around with the old F config (and there certainly aren't any on the routes I fly in Asia Pac). Here's an image of the old F seat

The new F (installed on the majority of the 777 fleet and A380's) compared to the old F is chalk and cheese...much more private, great to sleep on etc etc

Wow. Very different to the fancy, flash, glittery images I've seen of what must be the new F suites.

At this stage I'm looking at LHR-xDXB-BKK. EK has confirmed it's the non-suites F and, I guess, considering the flights are only seven or so hours (although the DXB-BKK is overnight). The flights I'm looking at are in January. Is EK refitting its entire fleet of 777s to have new F suites?

Just out of curiousity, why not fly direct from LHR to BKK? I would choose a direct BA or QF or TJ (even in J) over going via Dubai on old Emirates F, any day. And / or can't you change to one of the EK flights with the A380 or 77W suites?

Even as an F pax the Dubai terminal is a complete dump and changing flights is a nightmare that can involve waiting in security lines for waaaayyyy too long behind a couple of A380 loads full of economy pax. No premium lanes. And boarding is the same kind of chaos all over again.

As an aside, my overall impression of Emirates after flying SYD-BKK-DXB-LHR-DXB-SYD in a mix of F and J earlier this year is that Emirates is essentially an LLC simply pretending to be a real airline. They have the same customer service ethos as Jetstar.

(Wow, I feel better now that I've got that out of my system!)

Wow (again). A LCC? That does not bode well for me.

It's a bit complicated at the moment but a flight direct from LHR-BKK is not an option. I'm waiting to see what eventuates but will certainly endeavour to move to an A380 flight ex-LHR.

Thanks for your info.

Been taking note of all comments about non-380 J. Have option to fly EK 409 to DXB in J and on to LHR on the 380. I note from Emirates website that there are two configuratons on the 777-300ER, one with lie-flat seats J/suites in F and one with sleeperette J/old F seats. It is not clear which seats are on EK409. Does anyone have any info please? And are the lie-flat beds truly horizontal or sloping?
I also have a booking on Qantas A380 J to LHR 3 days later (which I can cancel) but want to make the most of my 2 weeks leave.
What would you choose? 14 days in Europe but flying coughpy EK J or only 11 days with QF 380J? Oh, the dilemma!!

The 77W with the "sleeperette" are disgusting
The 77W with the "flat beds" are pretty good but it's sloped flat

Thanks for that. Just need to figure out which ones on EK 409.
May need to pm Eightblack - he seems to know what the deal is at EK!

I have a seat in F class on an EK 777. I'd like to swap to an A380 but I see they have no F booking code on that aircraft.

Is it possible, ceteris paribus, to change from F to P without a re-price? Or is that the point: A380 First is harder to come by than 777 First? That said, the fares are available at exactly the same price, whether A380 or 777.

I got my fare codes confused. I'm booked in A on the EK 777 and I see there is A on the EK A380.

You should be able to swap without a reprice as long as there is A seat availability on the A380...I've done it plenty of times. If you share some more details on date and destination, we can check...

Ooooh. Very nice, thank you.

I'm looking at LHR-xDXB on 15 January on either of the last two flights at night (last one preferably), connecting to DXB-LHR at 3am on 17 January. I'm currently confirmed in A on different flights but changing to these flights would not create a stopover, just a transit of about 19 hours (ie. the itinerary would essentially be the same).

I have two pax travelling to LHR in F redemption in a few weeks. Do I get a limo transfer?
If so, we will only need one limo. Anyone ever given one away successfully?

So, am I right in that the message from this thread is, anything other than the A380 is pretty ordinary with Emirates?

There will always be people who rave about Emirates just like there are for any airline.

As an aside, they may have been the frontiers in squashing one extra pax per row in Y (even if they disguised it with a bit of extra legroom in certain configs).

Emirates seems to have a very confusing list of varied aircraft configs. Between the Emirates website, seatugur.com and seatexpert.com, I can't find any consistency that helps me determine what aircraft have suites in F and what don't.

Using expertflyer.com, is it safe to assume that flights with a P bucket have suites while those without P (only F and A for First) don't have suites?

Pleased to report that the answer is no. The wide body (non-A380) metal I flew on 2 weeks ago was great. EK409 to KUL-DXB
Lie flat beds with mattress (at angle of about 8deg) were really comfortable. This a/c was brand new acc to captain on p.a. - only 10 days old.
IFE fantastic.
