Hi,

Thinking of booking Economy promo fare for Hong Kong to KUL on A330 early August. ($230 AUD Y vs $850 AUD J class)

Does MH offer paid upgrades at airport?

Would it help being OW Emerald status? (Qantas Platinum One)

Not sure about the airport, but MH often invites you to bid for an upgrade before the flight. They often accept low bids so it's a cost-effective way to upgrade.

I've never heard of MH upgrades offered at the airport but that doesn't mean they don't happen.

Have you looked at awards with QFF points?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Booked HKG - KUL economy promo. (A330)
Offered the MH upgardeme offer for 1350 HKD minimum bid (Approx $230 AUD)

Award options only for 6pm HKG departure and only on 738 ...

I'm a regular on the HKG-KUL-HKG route with MH.

My personal experience in bidding is don't bid the minimum if you are serious about wanting to be in business class. Being an elite member does help.

As I'm travelling with carry on only, can I check in early at any MH counter or must I wait for my flights counter to open? Am keen to check out all these OWE lounges people talk about on this forum.

Being P1, HKG is your oyster, with a rwaltive plethora of lounges to choose from.

If you are in transit you should be able to use transfer desk to issue onward boarding pass.

If you are coming in from town you can use in town check-in at Hong Kong or Kowloon stations.

If you can OLCI with MH you will syltill need a printed BP.

Other than that, ifvusing the airport express, In Town Check In is the go.
