Did anyone else get this from Qantas?

As part of a select group of Frequent Flyers, Qantas is now offering you the opportunity to earn double points on Qantas and QantasLink domestic flights*.

All you need to do is fly within our special bonus period -
23 November 2006 to 28 February 2007 - and watch your Frequent Flyer points take off. For example with double points you could earn:
Brisbane to Perth: 8,976 points Sydney to Hobart: 4,000 points Adelaide to Melbourne: 4,000 points Darwin to Sydney: 7,840 points The above points examples are based on Economy return flights.

Book now to double your points

Visit qantas.com now to book your next flight, and watch your points accelerate.

Your double point bonus will be automatically credited to your account after your fly.

I wonder if existing bookings (that are for during that period) will also qualify? It suggests it does..

Bugger! I can't complain.. I've got PER - MEL next week, and PER - SYD a few weeks later.. so a nice suprise! ;)

Speaking of which when I get back to my office I'll post QP times....

Nothing received here. Perhaps QF has noted my lack of SCs and flights posting to AA. Although they did not target me for the double points, double SC promotion they ran several year ago.

A poster on FT has mentioned that only PS and NB are eligible for this. (I guess WP's have to deal with true double points on any flight over 500 miles)

Ah.. cool then!

For the record... or should I post in the lounge meetings section?

30/11/06 PER QP 13:30 - 14:00
01/12/06 MEL QP 19:00 - 20:30

12/01/07 ADL QP 15:15 - 16:45
21/01/07 SYD QP 18:25 - 19:15

Made me check my e-mail! Nothing important there. And I have so many flights in that period....

Not easy to get (even a small part of) WP bonus in NZ :(

Remember the promotion that QF had in 2001-2002. Double points and double SCs. I was QC bronze then and made it to WP by March 2002 (having only joined QF when AN crashed in Sept 2001). Are there double SCs this time. I certainly haven't been targetted. Good markeing ploy to get those with a sniff of SG or WP to fly over the holiday period.

Just checked the program news and FF specials on the QF website. Nothing there for members at large. So it must be targetted.

Yes I remember I wasnt targetted by that one either.

Haven't heard anything of this promotion.... my wife is silver FF and she hasn't recieved anything either. Maybe it is just for Perth residents??

I didn't get that one but I did receive this one yesterday.

We'd like to offer you a complimentary Qantas Club pass* as part of a special offer to a selected group of Frequent Flyers. So if you fly before 28 February 2007, you can enjoy access to a range of facilities to make your flight experience smoother and more comfortable -

I guess I was targetted cos I'm a NB and non QP with lots of points to burn??

There's a thread on this in FT; it seems it is targetted. You can get a bit more of a statistical sample.

To view this FT thread: Qantas Double Points Promo.

Anyone NOT from PER / WA get this?

There was also a promotion in 2004-2005. Not sure if it was a promotion for all the masses or targetted to certain members only but I was only PS at the time.

That one also targetted (yup not for me either).

I got targeted and am from Perth however mine was double status credits between the same period.

I am sitting on 280 status credits so far this year. The promo was targeted to me to fast track my silver status. As I only fly discount economy (company policy) this will get me over the line on my next trip to Melbourne/Sydney next weekend so that will be great.

On a side note, how does it work when booked flights will change my status. Does it only apply after I get back and for my next flights, or does the bookings bump me up so that I could check in at business counters next trip? Could I perhaps ring Qantas and ask them to change my status based on my booked travel and if they do how long does it usually take to receive the new baggage tags etc? Thanks for your help.

Well I'm from PER (or was last time I looked - with daylight saving coming and extended liquor trading, I can't really be sure where I am!).

No sign of any such offer in my inbox.

NSW resident & bronze level. I have been targeted with the double status credit offer. My Qantas review is end Nov & with a flight this weekend, double status will mean I fall over the line to silver. Was to be 20 short & was going to just let it go at that.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Only actual flights taken count towards status. So if you haven't yet flown the booked flight it counts for naught.

How easy would it be to have fully flexible flights booked in the system ask QF to give you Platinum status based on the booked flights and then cancel the remainder of the flights?
