Re: Earn 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and 150 Status Credits with Velocity Platinum A

Welcome to AFF darkice!

Haven't seen any posts where people have mentioned receiving the SCs if they were not targetted for the offer. Then again anyone in that situation would probably not want to brag about it.

Personally I think the chances of receiving the 150 SCs if not targetted for the offer are low. Is it worth a try? Only you can answer that question.

Cheers :)

I shall report back in a few months with how it goes haha... I'm not expecting much.

Re: Earn 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and 150 Status Credits with Velocity Platinum A

from my experience with Velocity for this offer it was like pulling teeth to get the 150 SCs out of them even when it was a targeted offer ... got the 50,000 points within 2 weeks, but the 150SCs took approximately 14 weeks, many grumpy phone calls and emails to finally get them assigned.

Shudder to think what you will need to go through for a non targeted sign up :-|

I signed up knowing a lot of people had issues with this, but mine wasn't the case. (just thought I'd report the good experience to balance the opinion).
I got the 50k points in the first month, booked a one way domestic flight for my mum about 6 weeks after getting the card and had the 150SCs in my account in the second month's statement.

Happy to not have to escalate points for once, just submitted a retro claim for a VX flight that didn't credit... (though the return leg came through automagically about 10 days after flight..!)

Hi, first post so here goes.
When you received the 150SC was it dated on your virgin account from the date when the flight was booked?
I have taken up the AMEX offer and am 90SC short of Plat as of today, if I book flights tomorrow do I assume I add the 150SC as of tomorrow?
many thanks:))

I looked up my record from January onwards (when I got the card) and I flew SYD-MEL on 7 March and the SCs were credited on 10 March. I would have bought the ticket a bit earlier than that - maybe 2 weeks? I got the SCs in two lots of 100 and 50 although in the same date.

Sorry but no they weren't. Flight was 14th July (with those SCs posting 15th July), and the Amex credit came with an activity date of 11 Aug, processed 12 Aug.
All my Amex card points post through on about the same day each month, either the 10th or the 11th of the month - I'm guessing due to statement cycle dates, but the SCs weren't back dated to the flight date.

Re: Earn 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and 150 Status Credits with Velocity Platinum A

I am in the same position. My qualifying spend was in my statement period Jan-Feb, statement is issued mid-Feb for me. Velocity Amex call centre said 3-5 days I think for the 50,000pts to show which they did but not the SC's even though on my Amex card online statement there is a little note "150sc" next to the qualifying transaction.
They advised to wait for next statement cycle but reading the above perhaps I should call or email Velocity Amex again?

Did anyone else get a note 150sc on their online statement? I made an eligible purchase the other day but this has not shown as of yet.

It takes quite a while to show up. If you only recently got your card and made the purchase I'd give it a month.

I used my 'free' airfare the other day. Only SYD-BNE-SYD but at short notice for a funeral so it was worth about the annual fee on the flights I got. Easy to organise via the number on the back of the card. There's even a menu item for booking the flight if you listen through the options. The lack of linking with the Velocity number is an issue though but you can update it later.

Which statement are you referring to? Velocity's or Amex's?

I didn't see anything at Amex about the SCs (only about the bonus points), but it was clear in Velocity that the 150 SCs were from Amex.
And to echo Warks it took a while to come through.

Re: Earn 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and 150 Status Credits with Velocity Platinum A

Don't get any points or SCs for the 'free' flight I note.

Re: Earn 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and 150 Status Credits with Velocity Platinum A

Just to add some info about this card. I got it recently (after SC offer unfortunately) I thought I'd call up to find out how much of a benefit the Business Class Companion Fare was. Now first thing, I didn't get this card for this benefit as I knew it would likely not really be much of a benefit. This is how much of a non-benefit this feature is.

2 x J Class BNE : LAX June 2015 : $17,652 through J Campanion Fare deal ; retail from website J Class same dates $11,024. Now these are not like for like in that the Companion fare I assume is more flexible given it is the Flexi fare, but for what I would want I would happily take the $6k saving and less flex.

The card itself isn't that great but the sign on bonus is worthwhile, my wife and I will likely rotate the cards every second year to collect the points.

No Latest offer is 60k bonus points credited as 10k per month for first 6 month when you spend $3k per month

Is that not for the Velocity High Flyer (Citi Bank) I thought this thread was about the Velocity Platinum Amex?

sorry my bad I mixed it with the other new CC i just got! The current deal for the Velocity AMEX is 50K points, requiring $500 eligible spend. 150 SC (or any SC) are no longer part of the promo/sig on deal.
