Answer = As long its Virgin Australia on the receipt / Statement you have fulfilled the obligation. So a packet of nuts on a flight could be enough to qualify provided the statement says Virgin Australia, which on looking back through my history on board food does show as Virgin purchase.

In my experience, food & beverages purchased on board do NOT show as Virgin Australia on my CC statement, it's usually 'Travel Services' or similar, so beware of assuming this will work...

IME (having cycled amex cards 3 times now and not cancelled old ones until receiving new ones) I have always received bonus points/sign up offers where it says "new customers only".

As always, YMMV.

I took this one out when it first appeared a year or two back. Imagine my delight when they credited me with 200 SCs rather than 150! Sweet. Ran a stack of Hotelclubs through it and was getting 6x the earn. I was an Amex QF cardholder at the time. I really need this offer to hit July next year, as re-qualled Plat already but next years flying is looking very, very skinny sadly.

Looking at the credit cards section of the VFF site, there are credit card deals/incentives available but none mention SC, points only. I have not received the email, either.

In regards to the above that I posted earlier. Purchases made on a recent flight to MEL show on my statement as "VIRGIN FOOD PURCHA MELBOURNE AUS". Puchases made on a flight from SYD show as "TRAVEL SERVICE FEES PT MELBOURNE AUSAU".

To ensure I get the SC I will be purchasing a flight.

I only got my plat card last week (pre offer, i took the 50,000 points for $500 spend). Has anyone spoken to AMEX to see what they will do for existing customers that arent eligable??

I received this email (but with and offer of 15000 points and 100 status credits). But I must have deleted it and now I want to apply . Have searched my deleted folder,no luck. Any ideas? Should I call velocity?

I received the email for the 50,000pts/150SC's however I am already an Amex Plat Edge holder so will give it a miss.

If VA/Amex could guarantee I would received the bonus I would be applying however...

Finally remembered to apply for this one today. They offered me a $50K limit? Well that was the maximum in the form. Will see what comes out the other end when they see I have about $50K in cards already. Will they be okay with that? I'm thinking of ditching a card as I've got too many now.

Well that was quick. Got an approval email overnight. Roll on the SCs and points.
Must cancel one of my four other cards though...

I purchased a Virgin gift voucher, and on one of the screens it stated that Wright Express would appear as service provider and Virgin. Can anyone verify this?

I didn't receive the offer but would like to apply. I found the card on the website (and I think its been linked here?) but only has the 50000 bonus points offer no status credits. Is there a link we can apply via to get them or did we have to be offered it?

Card arrived today - crikey that was quicker! Only four days since approval. I wonder how long for the points and SCs to show up. Will advise.

Now which card to cull?
Our bank's VISA.
WOW EDR MC
CBA MC
24 Degrees MC - that's free so it stays.
I've had the CBA MC for about 25 years but sentiment is no reason to keep a card.

The annual card fee is a killer so that's why I've got to cull. This Virgin card is the most expensive of all of mine so it will have to be good for me to keep it.

Provided you aren't already an Amex card holder, then yes. It's only the bonus SCs which are targeted.

I received an emailed approval within a few minutes and the cards within a week. (early December)

Received the 50K points today along with 100 SC......now chasing the other 50 !

Similar for me.

Do you have to spend the $500 on Virgin to get the other 50SCs? I can simply pay for a couple of airfares to get there I guess.
