OK. I gave it the six weeks. Flights purchased with GV; ADL - MEL - LST on the 14th February. Bonus points for first leg appeared on the 28th Feb but nothing for the second leg. Rang this evening and was advised that it's actually six to eight weeks and they might appear next week.
Bit strange as I've flown since then and the bonus points came through within a week, although that was an actual return flight, originally booked as such.
Oh well, give it another fortnight!
I gave it another fortnight. Still nothing. Rang Qantas. They said they'd have to send it off for manual intervention which could take up to 48 hours.
I gave it 48 hours. Still nothing. Rang Qantas. They said it could take three to five days. Checked this morning. All good, the missing SC's have appeared.
Now for the next test. I took a four leg GV flight (actually 2 x return) before Easter and am now waiting to see when the DSC's post for that.
DSC's for conventionally booked flights have been appearing within a couple of days but I've only used 3 GV's so far. One single leg posted two weeks after the flight, one double leg half posted two weeks after the flight (eight weeks for other half) and the four legs from the 27th and 29th of March have yet to post DSC's, although the normal SC's appeared with 24 hours.

Yeah, 2 full days of the “wait 3 to 5 days” have passed. Maybe I’ll play call centre bingo tomorrow arvo and hope to get AU.

@Captain Halliday, this augers well for you...have you checked your account today?

Seen as I am fairly new to this site but have been a very frequent flyer since 1992. Can someone please explain to me about all this GV use for flights during DSC periods. I am not up to speed with it all. It appears that there is an advantage by using GVs but I cannot see what it is. Any help or explanation would be appreciated.

People will deliberately not answer your post. But if you read back through the thread and previous DSC threads it should give you a fairly good idea of what it's about. The mods have also said people should refrain from discussion on it and keep the thread focused.

:(. Well hoping by Monday it's in - as there is usually a Saturday IT run at QF.

I was thinking it would be like last year where I found that the DSC postings happened once a week (at least for me it seemed to be every Wednesday).

Flights I've taken booked in this promotion have had DSC posted two days after the flights posted. That's been consistent for 6 flights so far.

Wow sorry if I had known that I would not have asked but thanks for the reply.

Also blocking PMs (Conversations) means that you won't get a private response to questions like this either.

It's fine to ask, but I'm just telling you why no one will probably answer you in the thread. There's been plenty of discussion though, so it's probably not too hard to find in this thread and others.

No problems won't ask again.

Thanks for the advice found another thread on this site that spelt it all out plain and simple. Oh and just for interest found some flights that will cost you 3.27 per SC and 2.72 per SC which will be very handy on the current 50% bonus and the next DSC promotion

Awesome! Definitely post it in the Status Run thread: Wiki - Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

September's promo only had double POINTS on EK to NZ, LHR and SIN. The double SCs were only on QF. Unless we're talking about a different promo...

True, but I did not get DP either. *shrug* (and I believed that was on EK flight numbers not QF code, but whatever)

Weird. I got DSC and DP for that same promotion without issue (flew on QF metal though).

There is zero way the DSC runs are manual - only corrects and adjustments to fix omissions.

Why?

Consider the numbers of bookings over time. Even over a 5 day period (or however long the promo booking periods are) you're talking thousands, probably tens of thousand of bookings that would have to be processed, and even then they are obviously being flown all through the promotion period.

Almost certainly the "incosistent" application of DSC is due to poor coding in the bath runs and/or incomplete data being fed in.

Obviously I've never worked on these systems, but I imagine they run a regular batch run daily, or peraps every couple of days.. I'd imagine it goes through, processes the new enitries for flights registered (ie: new flights posted to account activity) since the last run, then probably have to reconcile those PNR's against registrations and eligibility requirements for the promotion(s) and then process. So you can have a mix of the data not coming through correctly, not being processed correctly due to coding errors or likely input data issues (unexpected entries, or malformed data for whatever reason) and so on.. result.. most of the time things work great but probs may (and do) occur

again this is just a guess, but I'd be shocked if it was far off how the sweeps run.

Certainly no way there's manual mass processing of promotions. IMHO

I agree. The sheer amount of data that Qantas would be needing to process and send to different systems like Amadeus, their FF backend, their CRM, APIs and TA tools, support tools, CC tools etc. means the chances of this being manual are slim to none. Manual for changes and fixes sure, but not the actual process.

I reckon they have a twice daily cron job running these promo DSCs into accounts, I've only received them in the morning or at night. I'd say the query or whatever request filtering of the data they're doing that is determining what makes it into the job is probably kinda cough or very specific so it misses things (explains delays or requiring manual intervention).

Someone smarter than me could write a script/bot to talk to the Qantas web API and see when they get deposited.

The process may be manual even if it's done via a batch system. I.e. someone has the job to run the "process promotion" batch every few days.

You would assume there is serious auditing being done on the process given the potential cost of benefits being handed out. Heck, even the cost of the tags plus the shiny brochure box thingo that comes out when you first reach a status level would be a big enough dent to not get this wrong.

But we know what "assume" makes.
