Double Status Credit Offer, status retention query

I don't see re-qualifying SG/WP using using a direct points payment in any of the published Qantas T&C's.

So they are not ignoring any of these T&C's.
No you don't. How convenient as you can't re-qualify any status level without the minimum 4 flights.

During a soft landing period (from SG) some years ago, SWMBO had PS for 24 months without setting foot on a QF flight, let alone getting a ~.

So Qantas ignoring their own terms and conditions. Why am I not surprised with the greed?

But JohnK, you yourself say you dont pay any heed to their terms and conditions?! Are you "greedy" too? :0

It's also not possible to re-qualify without the required status credits. This offer is a solution for those who haven't met the normal criteria, and I'd have thought it was up to QFF to determine the criteria for it.

They're hardly going to offer it to someone, and then if taken, refuse the status re-qualification on the basis that the usual criteria weren't satisfied.

Correct. I'm also greedy. ;)

Good point. And yes it is up to Qantas to do as they please. That doesn't mean that we all have to agree.

P.S. We have probably discussed this to death but I like the old unofficial system that was in place. I automatically received 3 comps in early May even though I had the required SCs by end of May. Now I can be 10 SCs short and I need to use the same number of points as someone who has 0 SCs but was offered status retention. Makes no sense but that's the system that is now in place.

It makes sense to me as all I see is an airline endeavoring to increase their revenue.
Yes by overcrowding lounges and providing costly benefits to someone who has not earned that status.

I walked out of the BNE Business lounge early on Friday night due to the delays in SYD as the lounge was very full. I found the leisurely walk down to the Virgin terminal and back more enjoyable than the crowded lounge.

Likewise, when I slipped from WP, I spent 24 months as SG, without even crediting any OW points or SC, although I did use some QF award flights. I think its at QF discretion as to what they do in addition to their T & Cs.

Indeed, I don't think the T&Cs support double SC offers either :)

there's precident for retining status (or attaining it) without the 4~ -

- status comp (now seemingly gone)
- status match (true, they usually require a 200 SC challenge to get it, but that could be met without 4~)
- soft landing
- Gold status gift (ie: at 2400 SC level Platinum Plus reward)
- being LTG.

And of course, QF can grant status at their discretion. It's not really relevant to the T&C imho, because they refer to attaining/retaining status "normally" but, as above, there are any number of exceptions
