In my eyes they were rude, but they did get "accidentally" bumped in to a couple of times during the night!

That will teach them for taking my seat!

Right. So they were rude to refuse to give up a seat that they were absolutely entitled to? And for that you "bumped" them during the night. I know it's pointless having this argument with a 13 year old, but if you tried that on me in real life you'd soon be snapped out of your little alternate reality.

Re: WP for the first time ever

FYI , I usually travel J, no single digit J seats on A380.

Too bad then, downstairs in a single digit seat is much nicer ;) That's the view from me, a male.

And if I was a female, I would still come to the same opinion.

Re: WP for the first time ever

And then Gold has somehow been granted access to the same seats as Platinum at T-80 hours on domestic flights. And another low blow to Platinum.

I would've paid the same price for my seat as a WP,, so, why shouldn't I be able to pick my seat where I want to sit at T-80?
And Silver and Bronze have also paid the same price so let them in as well.

Why even bother with status levels?

And while we are at it then everyone should be allowed into the lounges and everyone should have priority luggage and priority boarding.

There! Fixed it for you. Now everyone can be happy....

Re: WP for the first time ever

WP only gets advanced seat selection on DOMESTIC flights, I paid for a business class seat, I can pick whichever seat I want from what is available,, if that seat happens to be in emerald city? then so be it..

Incorrect. WP can advance seat select on ANY flight, Dom or Int.

they were rude because they didn't want to swap? Oh please, who's the rude one? What on earth thinks you have the right to demand a seat already allocated just because you decided to swap flights? What if the person in that seat was a CL? Would they deserve it anymore than you?

This is the most arrogant post I have read on this forum. Do things really come down to childish stroppy acts or is this just a joke - I'm hoping the latter. The person already selected that seat and as you said, you made a flight change at the last minute. I think you had a nerve to ask them to swap directly, but to think they are rude and bump them all because they got a seat they were entitled to. Sheesh.

Now, who is being the rude one, at least I haven't stooped to personal insults.

And as I stated earlier, I saw on their BP that they were WP, if it had of been CL or even P1 then I probably wouldn't have had as much of a problem with it.

I have to say that emerald city is becoming infested with non emeralds of late. My guess is that QF processes the points upgrades leaving empty seats in emerald city which seemed to be filled with non status pax with no flight etiquette at all.:p

Sorry to speak the truth, and find someone here who disagrees with me.

At the end of the day, it wouldn't matter if they had no status, the had that seat allocated, and you have no right to demand it it, or worse, act like a petulant school child and deliberately bump them during the flight.

This thread reminds me of the movie Midnight express where everyone is walking in one direction around the wheel and when one person tries to walk the other way the other walkers are not happy.
I like threads with a healthy debate.

And yes a lot of us are going in different directions but that is what AFF is all about.

The use of the word "infested" is pejorative in this context, TonyHancock. They do have the right to sit there. They are human beings after all, and their status is irrelevant. They paid for economy seats alongside you, and they're getting an economy seat. If you have an issue with the behaviour of a person, then it's right to point it out. However, I've seen enough people of high status think that they are entitled to flout "flight ettiquette" because they're frequent flyers as much as I've seen people with no elite status flout the same.

People with no status in a commercial airline's frequent flyer program are not lesser people.

FYI, It's called a 'preferential' seating zone, not an 'exclusive' seating zone. There is a difference.

Chances are that if I booked a discount J ticket from say HBA-MEL-LAX or something similar and I rocked up at HBA as a lowly Silver member and asked for 11F and nobody was seated there, I would be willing to put a sizeable amount of money on it that I would have it allocated to me and there would be nothing you could do about it.

No matter what status you have or how much you supposedly spend the fact of the matter is, its already been allocated to another passenger. that means you can't have it!

P.S. I'd be very careful about 'bumping' other passengers over a petty matter like this, it may end up with the cabin crew asking if there is a doctor on-board...

John, I agree, some of us are going in different directions. For example I know someone that when they state their opinion as a man and no one agrees, then they can reverse roles and play woman for the day. I decided to hedge my bets and always give one opinion as a man and the other opinion as if I was a woman. This opinion is from my male side.

Oh and if I was a woman, I would agree with you on that point too John.

And this is what I normally would have done, but for the late change and the WP having already checked in online or something, so I had no choice but to ask them direct, unfortunately they were quiet rude and said no.

Can you please send me your travel schedule, I can't wait to be the next lowly WP who is sitting in your seat and says no also!!

Off to LHR next week I look forward to it.
Sorry to say MY seat 11F is locked in.

But how many "average people" would actually do it that way ?
Are you saying that people on AFF are not "average"?

But the answer to your question is we would have no idea unless Qantas released the numbers of how status was achieved.

By the way I am only going on posts on AFF and to a bigger extent on Flyertalk. Just remember that for every poster there could be many lurkers just gaining valuable information and using it to their advantage. You do not need to be a member of AFF or Flyertalk to crave status and lounge access.
