Re: WP for the first time ever

OK Tony if you see me at a table in the Flounge and there is no other place left to sit down just come and tell this PS to move and I will do so.You should recognise me from the photos in my long TRs.
PS-this is a targetted promo and not at this time available to anyone else.

I don't think that you are serious about moving to make way for the P1's.

i had a similar situation on board a flight a couple of weeks ago when for whatever reason I could not get my normal 11F on an A380 and the person who had sat there refused to move, I caught a glimpse of their BP and low and behold WP.

There should be guidelines to fix this without me having to ask, but with more an more WP coming on board it will just get worse

Re: WP for the first time ever

You like 11F? :p No wonder the WP had your seat. QF save 12E for the P1's :p

That was the seat they had allocated me, and I would have thought the WP would have been happy to have it, but no they could not be made to see reasoning.

Wait so you're saying QANTAS moved you out of 11F to put a WP there instead of a P1?

Re: WP for the first time ever

What actual published benefits have been lost from any of the tiers recently? All I can think of is unpublished ones like ATA and free exit rows.

(edit: and the PS check-in changes which I think have all been reinstated anyway)
Do not necessarily need to lose a benefit to see devaluation.

Personally, and I think many disagreed with me, I think increasing status bonus of Silver to 50% and Gold to 75% was a low blow to Platinum and shortly after Platinum One was introduced. Not a new level but Platinum with extra benefits as well as having some of the previously lost benefits as unpublished benefits. Another low blow to Platinum.

And then Gold has somehow been granted access to the same seats as Platinum at T-80 hours on domestic flights. And another low blow to Platinum.

For how much longer will there be room for Platinum? Pessimistic thoughts or a simple observation on the recent trends?

I made a late change to my itinerary and came home a day earlier, when I went to check in they said that someone had already checked in for seat 11f, when I boarded and I asked the person sitting in 11F to swap they wouldn't

I would've paid the same price for my seat as a WP,, so, why shouldn't I be able to pick my seat where I want to sit at T-80?

Wait... you changed your flight and you think you're still entitled to it? How do you know that they didn't request that seat when they booked their ticket? If they've checked in and were given that seat then it's theirs, and in no way should they have to move to accommodate you (even if it was to a better seat).

Re: WP for the first time ever

Well if I'd selected 11F as my preferred seat, I probably wouldn't have moved either. Like you, they obviously have a preference - your change of schedule meant they had the opportunity to take that seat - and they did.

Expecting them to move is a bit rich IMHO.

Sorry, but there is a pecking order that needs to be maintained

Hardly rich at all, surely QF should have a procedure to fx this wihout me needing to ask

Because WP is meant to reward loyal customers. It's like saying why can't a NB on a discount economy ticket sit at the front of the cabin or in an exit row.
Currently a NB, soon to be PS and aiming to be SG. I have to agree that allowing SG to choose WP seats at T-80 (although I never knew that at T-80 more seats opened up) is a devaluing of WP. Good for me if I get to SG but it'd be fair if it was at the counter or T-24 or something. (I'm assuming T-80 means 80 hours till take off?)

Sorry, but there is a pecking order that needs to be maintained

Now that just sounds coughy.

No, that is rich, extremely rich.

Re: WP for the first time ever

As a man, I would not give up my seat even if the person asking is a WP1.

If I was a woman, I still would not up my seat even if the person asking is a WP1.

Re: WP for the first time ever

Why? Like you, they were offered a seat - in this case 11F - which was obviously available when they booked their flight.
You changed your flight date - not them - so why should their previously booked seat be given up?

Just because they're WP and you're P1? Don't think so in this case - you changed your flight. Sorry, they had every right to select that seat, you weren't originally on their flight, the seat was free, they were the lucky one to get it.

(If the flight had been full, would you have also expected them to be offloaded to accommodate you? ;))

Re: WP for the first time ever

WP only gets advanced seat selection on DOMESTIC flights, I paid for a business class seat, I can pick whichever seat I want from what is available,, if that seat happens to be in emerald city? then so be it..

Re: WP for the first time ever

That was the seat they had allocated me, and I would have thought the WP would have been happy to have it, but no they could not be made to see reasoning.
Next time, try the Violet Elizabeth Bott technique.

wow... you asked? the person in the seat? not staff in the lounge or check-in? the person in their allocated seat?

To be honest, I'm surprised that you asked them to change seats.
